Looking for details on factory plugs for grip heater

I have tried searching for this info but failed.

I am installing Oxford HotGrips on my 2006A and want to use the factory wiring. Does anyone have any detail on the blue and white plugs next to the accessory box? My blue plug has nothing plugged in but the white one has a jumper attached. Just wondering what is switched +12V and what is ground.

Also if you have a reference to the wiring diagram that would help also.

Lookie here. The pin locations in the connectors, the color and striping on the Gen II grip schematic are correct.

CAUTION: The Oxford grips I just installed need the grips wired in parallel, the factory heated grip harness in the GEN II puts the grips in series.

The best way i believe is to connect directly the wires in your battery..Or as the ionbeam said..

Perfect. Thats exactly what I was looking for. I can use the blue green wire to switch a relay to power my grips. I got a deal locally on a set of the Oxford Sport model. The grips are shorter than stock but I made a spacer for the barend weight which fills in the gap and it still works with the Vista Cruise. I mounted the controller on the left side panel where the factory controller would go. Looks OK except the wire is exposed for a couple of inches.

OK, I got away yesterday for a couple of hours and completed the Oxford HotGrips install. I rode the bike to work after and these things get hot!. I found out that the 25% and 50% settings are fine in the 60F temps we had last night. I ended up wiring these through a relay and used the blue/green wire in the factory blue plug to control the relay. This wire only gets power when the engine is started and is switched off with the key. When power is applied to the grip control it comes on in the lowest setting (25%) which is fine.

I have attached some pics of the finished install, I didn't take any of the wiring but I placed the relay and most of the wiring in the panel beside the battery. The control I mounted to the plate on the left panel where the factory control would go using a couple of screws supplied with the grips. I made a spacer for the factory bar ends to fill the space lost since these grips are shorter than the stock ones.

I should also mention that these grips are hard so I may need to add foam but I won't know until I get to spend some time with them.

They look nice!I like the location of the controller!

As for that these grips are hard,you bought the sport model.The sport model is a bit hard!But it has great grip!I have the Oxford clasic model,they are softer than the sport but not soft as the oem grips.You can add Grip Puppies or Grip Budies!You will feel the same heat!

Also you must make a spacer for the throttle grip because i saw in the photo has a space there from the inside..

You can make this spacer from neopren tube or a like that..

Glad to provide the photos. The space on the throttle grip is for my Vista Cruise, I didn't have it on in that photo. I also normally use a throttle rocker and with the sport grips there is less room for it.

I like the location of the grip controller also, the unit came with a bracket that allows it to be installed on the handlebars but I like to keep that space uncluttered.

Hotter than you will need in the most cold days,especially in the red led mode..!

No problem posting the photos but my bike is awful dirty, I was down to North Carolina in Sept and haven't washed the poor thing yet. I couldn't get the photos attached using the green 'image' button since the popup window didn't pop. I like how the controller is exactly the same size as the removable panel for the factory controller. I was trying to mount it flush but it would require more effort than I was willing to give. Your kit has the same parts as mine did except for the different grips. I put one of the foam pads under the controller before screwing it to the panel.

Dirty bike is a real bike!!Don't worry about it!

If you like later you can replace the sport grips with the clasic..if you like these more..Oxford sells only the grips like a spare part..

You used heated grips in 60F? And here I thought you Canadians treated that as warm summer weather!

Thanks for posting the pics. I have been pondering this heated grip thing to death. I don't want to spend the cash on the OEMs but still want heat. I was looking at the Oxford touring model - but they were too short (shorter than stock grips). These look good. I am going to pull the trigger and that will leave me with a couple hundred dollars to throw at something else.
