Attencion, tus pinche gringos del FJR! El Jefe, Chuy Medina aka "El Burrito Ballerina", is leading FJR vatos locos to Baja, MEX

The dates for this ride are Octubre 9 through Octubre 12, 2009. Monday the 12th is Columbus Day Holiday for some of you.

This will be a great trip for those of you who will be riding a motocicleta to Mexico for the very first time. We will not need a Tourist Permit and we will not need a Mexico Vehicle Import Permit. When we cross over the border at Tecate, Chuy will need to turn in his current 180 day MVIP; I will explain all of the steps required for this permit, so you can do it in the future.

You will need Mexican Moto Insurance: https://www.mexpro.com I've used this outfit for a dozen years y es muy bueno!

FJR Zonies will depart from the McDonald's Restaurant in Gila Bend at 0700 on the Friday of this 10/9 thru 10/12 weekend.

Los Californios: We will arrange a time for all of us to rendezvous in Tecate, just a few miles from San Diego; easy crossing.

West on Interstate 8 crossing into Mexico at Tecate. We ride twisties and beautiful MEX 3 to Ensenada.

Friday and Saturday nights in downtown Ensenada next to the harbor. On Saturday Chuy Medina "El Burrito Ballerina" will lead a sightseeing and scenic ride to La Bufadora. See waves shoot 150' up in the air.

Sunday we ride the long and twisty road over the Sierra San Pedro Martir y de Juarez to San Felipe Mar.

Night is spent on the beach at a hotel with swim up bar. Walk into San Felipe Viejo for shrimp enchiladas.

Monday: Zonies cross back into Estados Unidos at San Luis, Sonora. 4 days, three nights and 1,300 miles riding Mexico.

Los Californios: You'll be crossing back into Estados Unidos at Tecate; once again, just a reversal run of what you did Friday.

https://www.ensenada.com All info you need to know about Ensenada activities, sightseeing and shopping.

https://www.sanfelipe.com.mx Here is what is happening in San Felipe: Fishing charters, shopping and eats.

https://www.azbeemers.org/forum/index.php?t...94.msg14431#new There is already a four page thread at AZ Beemers Club on this Mexico Expedition. The ten riders going are all Old Mexico hands; 5 speak Spanish and two of us born in Mexico!

cometman: Are you going on johnny80s and Fairlaner ride on September 5th? If you are, I'll bring along Baja ride packet.

As I've traveled outside of the United States over the last 40 years, I've been accumulating "ride packets", which are those fold over binders with elastic band that you buy from Staples and Office Depot. I have them for all of the western countries of Europe, New Zealand, South of Estados Unidos and Alaska (not foreign to me of course). And a very big one of Canada!

If you were sure you were going on the San Diego border ride on 9/5, I would drag along my Baja California Norte packet!

Yes I will be there on the 5th. That is very nice of you. Thanks. It will be nice to meet and ride with you. I just remembered, I believe I need a passport which may take longer than the time I have to get one. Is this the current requirement for the USA? I will check.

https://travel.state.gov/passport/passport_1738.html Verdad, you'll need United States passport for this. Thanks cometman!

Right now their standard processing time is 4 weeks but expedited service only requires 2 weeks time! Ai, apply right now!

It's now 6.5 weeks before this trip, but if you're considering going; get moving muy pronto on a passport! Arriba, arriba!!!

YAHOO! Thanks again 'beemerdons' I will start the passport process this week. I am a little hesitant of riding in Mexico from previous jaunts down south but what an adventure that would be. Fitting that it is Columbus day also. I love Mexico, its food, people and tradtitions. Maybe I will meet a fine senoritas.

ATENCION: IF YOU'RE GOING ON MEXICO TRIP-CONTACT CHUY AT 480-440-4666, 480-917-3863 [email protected]

Remembered before MEM, FastJoyRide, barb y otra Canuckistans jump on me: If Canadian you need Canada passport, ese!
BDS - I'd never jump on you about passports! Now, the "donkey show" at the Blue Fox .......
https://www.fjrforum.com/forum//index.php?showtopic=122097 Mary Ellen, Do you and the other Canuckistans have an interest in riding through Mexico as it existed 300 years ago? I will be promoting this trip at CFR 2010 in Quebec, Canada.

I'm close friends with the owners of Moto-Discovery, Skip and Nancy Mascorro. I know that You, Barb and Jill are short in stature, I could influence Pancho Villa Moto Tours to obtain Suzuki DRZ-400 dual sport bikes that would fit all your inseams.

Tarahumara Indians live throughout the Copper Canyon region, I've only scratched their viejo world by riding to Batopilas!

Right now Brian "El Jefe" Boles y yo are committed to riding the Expedition in November. ShinyPartsUp may also join group!

Oh my gosh - this sounds like a blast ! and I very much appreciate that you've considered my inseam challenge. (btw, Barb's not as bad off as I) The downside - and it's a big downside - is that I have NO all-terrain riding experience whatsover. And the only way I'd get it in the next 6 months is by riding frozen snowbanks :(

MEXICAN MOTORCYCLE INSURANCE INFORMATION AND REMINDER THAT YOU MUST HAVE A US PASSPORT!!

I went with https://www.mexpro.com for my motorcycle insurance for our trip to Baja Norte California, Mexico over Friday, October 9 through Monday, October 12. Their website is excellent, but I used their toll free phone number of 1-888-467-4639. My insurance agent is Michael Mercer and my policy cost me $54.82.

I placed a value of $8,000 on my 2009 BMW F650GS Twin "Salma Hayek" and I purchased their Plan Plus Extended Coverage: Public property, public liability, collision, theft, fire, vandalism, $75K in medical costs, medical return to Estado Unidos, US labor rates for repairs and transport of damaged bike back to border.

Spoke to Barry BearTrax and he is in for the Mexico motocicleta trip. BUMP REMINDER: There are still rooms available at both hotels in Ensenada and San Felipe. Just follow instructions in Post above. Moto insurance is covered in Post. If you have a passport, please join Arizona FJR Forum MEX Ride. Mas caminos y mas amigos!!

NOTE: Sounds like Canada is getting hit with lots of rain, one of our AZ Beemers Members David - "Dashbaw" who lives on Vancouver Island, British Columbia is bailing out of the wet spot and riding to Mexico with us. Not to late to join us! Don S.

BeemerDonS,
I will be leaving Vancouver Island tomorrow morning at, oh my God, 5 am. It is raining, but we Canadians are tough or just dumb, whichever.

I have a rather round about twisty route planned and I am not taking my computer and I seldom turn on the cell. Should be in Yuma in 5 or 6 days and will check the web site for changes in plans at various motels or maybe even just call when I get to Phoenix.

See you at the Cracker Barrel in Yuma.

David
David, Plans are still same in our arriving at the Cracker Barrel in Yuma around 9 AM. You can call me at 7 AM when group will be at the McDonald's in Gila Bend: Cell - 480-440-4666. When you arrive from Canada: 480-917-3863 Don Stanley, AZ.
