    New suspension settings

If you decide to dive into suspension just remember there is not magic formula that will work for every rider... You have to learn how to ajust it to your riding style and need. The only way to find the "right" setting is to spend time learning your bike. BTW Racetech recently had some great...

    New suspension settings

Here are some notes from one of my suspension clinics from last year... Suspension has two major jobs; first is to isolate the rider from the road, second is to keep the tire in contact with the road. Understanding your suspension allows you to ride within it’s limits, expand your abilities...

    Raising the Forks..

Thanks guys for the measurements. I figure I can punch out a set of links pretty easy and it should cost next to nothing. It looks like we are talking about 4.5mm to 7mm. Sure doesn't seem like much for close to an inch (26-28mm) of extra ride height. I would have started at about 10mm so I...

    FJR power increase.

LOL :clapping: I'm doing that mod today.... I figure if I eliminate the headpipe completly I should get 27% more horse power over the basic mod :yahoo:

    Raising the Forks..

I am running an Ohlins rear with Race-Tech springs and valving up front. I replace my peg feelers at least once a year and go through a set of knee pucks in the same period (mostly from teaching classes). Do you know what the Hole to hole length is for teh 26-28mm dog bones? I am running a...

    Raising the Forks..

I second that... I can make a set of shock links to raise the rear but if someone already has I'm in. I am looking for any ground clearance I can get...

Peg dragging/ cornering clearence Noob question

Mine is a 2005 and ground clearance is VERY limited. I weigh 188lbs and ride mostly solo and unloaded (empty bags). My sag has been around 46mm on the rear (hard setting with a stock shock) and 35mm up front. It's not as bad as it sounds with 5.6 in of travel up front and 4.8 in out back...

What's the best gear for wheelies?

It's just not true... FJR's can't do wheelies!

    Anyone use Dunlops

I'm not fond of the 220's as they cupped way early. Metzelers stick well but flat spotted, I have Pilots Roads now and have been happy with them, I can't wait to try the new road 2's or new AVON's (loved the Avon ST's also)

Peg dragging/ cornering clearence Noob question

During normal touring I don't normally have an issue but during spirited riding I can grind the feelers all day long. In fact I just replaced both the right and left feelers tonight because I was starting to grind away at the left peg its self. Yes I hang off, and yes you can use the WHOLE...

    Suspension Tuning

I hope this helps ... This is information given out at a suspension clinic held at SportBike NW last month by Puget Sound Safety (they also offer the Lee Parks Total Control Advanced Riding clinic and a street course at Pacific Raceways) www.pugetsoundsafety.com 253 531 4585 Start with the...

    New Penske Shock Ride Repoort

My Ohlins was also $1200 and the Wilbers & Works cost about the same once you add in all the extras. The base unit is ussually preload and Rebound only (same as stock but better sag adjustment). As you add in low speed & high speed compression the cost goes up, remote preload is close to a $300...

    Muzzys 4-2-1 New Revision

Finally what I have been looking for... how loud the Muzzy is. Looks like I'm sticking with stock for now- muzzy too loud- Holeshot doesn't use stainless. If anyone knows of another full system please chime in!

    What's everyone's preference for slip on's?

anybody have pictures of a muzzy 4-1 system? How is the sound? I like quiet but would like to dump the cats and stock muff weight

    Yamaha vs Givi Trunk

I chose the Yamaha trunk so I would have key matched luggage... the build quality is good but from what I have seen the Givi may have less wasted space and looks good with the lower profile. I only use my trunk with a passenger so my cool factor is already dead at that point. you won't go wrong...

Ever Touched a Knee Puck Down?

I have yet to find a bike I could not drag a knee if I tried hard enough...

Ever Touched a Knee Puck Down?

I've touched just once or twice... its all about form and technique. I had had two other FJR's take the Total Control Advanced Riding Clinic (www.totalcontroltraining.net) in Seattle this year and one touched and the other came really close. Both were touring riders, one had more gray hair...
