    Prius is an environmental nightmare

I saw a book a while back (sorry I can't remember the titile) where the author claimed that ethanol was a negative energy fuel. He said it took more energy to grow and process ethanol than you were able to get back out of it. Any body know anything about this?

    Frustrated with Yamaha, considering BMW

You might call around to different dealers, when I bought my FJR I had 5 bikes on my short list, 3 of them were at the BMW dealership, I rode in on a 3 year old BMW, I asked, will you take this on trade, NO, ok , how about a some test rides, nope haven't got time we have a triumph promo today...

    Pondering the dual sport again

It's hard to pick one from that group with out knowing how you plan to ride it. Do you see yourself riding pavement with a few gravel roads thrown in or are you looking for a dirt bike that is legal to ride from one trail head to the next. Maybe something inbetween? BTW the new KTM EXCs are...

    Possible stator woes!!!!!!!

While I can't argue that fact, I recieved a little outside "help" with that last post when I had to step away from the key board for a while. Back to the real subject, I'm using a GPS III+ for a volt meter, it's wired though a dist. block that is powered by a relay. Does any body see a...

Anyone else only getting 5000-6000 miles on Avons??

I've used the HF tire changer for several years, it's not top of the line but works fine. The bar that comes with it will scratch rims, I use one from another manf. that has plastic inserts that don't scratch. It's paid for itself several times over, between my two riding partners and I we...

    Tank Heat

I used bubble type insulation because I happened to have it laying around, with the pattern cut it could be replaced in about 10min. for 3 or 4 bucks. When this wears out I will probably look for another thin insulation, perhaps the "firewall" type I used on the bottom of the tank. Steve

    Tank Heat

Like a lot of you I have been trying to get away from the heat the comes from contacting the tank. While insulating the bottom of the tank will slow the heat down, at the end of the day it would always penetrate. I came home from a weekend trip a couple weeks ago with 1st degree burns on the...

    Idaho Leg to WFO

I looked at your proposed route some more, if you want to stick close to it and avoid the construction you could cut north on 93 at arco then west at challis and across to Boise via Idaho City, it's a pretty nice ride. Steve

    Idaho Leg to WFO

I rode through Arco about 2 weeks ago there was about 20 miles of some of the roughest construction I've ever been through. Lady at the gas station at Arco said they had been blasting, I belive it. I would go around. Steve

    Tire Changer Question

I use a tire lube called Slick, I got it from my local tire store. The cheapest weights I've found were at JC Witless. Steve

    Need Electrical help

I normaly charge once a month over the winter, but I suspect that it sat for about 2-3 weeks compleatly discharged, looks like a new battery is in order. Are there any better aftermarket batteries out there or should I just go to the local dealer? Steve

    Need Electrical help

I installed heated grips this winter (dual star) , when I went for the first ride this spring bike refused to turn over. My first thought was that I ran it down while installing grip heaters and power dist. bar. I charged the battery and took a 150 mile ride everything was normal. After setting...
