    Suzuki Burgman 650

My wife and I often ride together (I ride my FJR and she rides her BMW F650 GS) -- whether it be in the Texas Hill Country or the Blue Ridge Parkway or the great highways in Arkansas or the wide open spaces in Big Bend area of Texas. While that little BMW is a great bike, it provides no wind...

    Natchez Trace Parkway

I rode the Blue Ridge Parkway 4 years ago (incl the Dragon) -- beautiful part of the country. Thinking about riding the Natchez Trace Parkway in mid October this year - I know it won't compare with the Blue Ridge, however, I understand it is a very nice ride. Anyone ride the NTP? Suggestions?

Willow City Loop and Enchanted Rock

That is a very nice route -- been through that area many times. I'm unable to make it this Sunday, perhaps next time. Thanks, Mark

    Gas Erupts from Tank

After initiating this discussion, I thought it best to update my experience. Yamaha paid to replace my gas cap -- they said the vent hole in the gas cap (just above the orange thingy) was blocked. FYI -- the new gas cap cannot be keyed same as ignition -- you end up with separate key for gas...

With great regret I am hanging up my boots

Same reason Cougar turned in his wings -- "kids sir, I almost orphaned em today." Then Maverick almost bought the farm. Best of luck to you!!!

    Gas Erupts from Tank

No, not a CA bike. My FJR is at the dealership now -- the problem is venting -- the dealership talked with Yamaha and they agreed the gas cap vent is not working properly (everything else checked out ok) -- the gas cap is to be replaced. I trust the dealership -- they do good work. I think...

    Gas Erupts from Tank

OK guys --thanks for the feedback After researach here is my premilinary resolution: 1. The problem is a vacuum problem and not a pressure issue 2.) The vent hoses to the gas tank are not the issue -- both vent feely -- no blockage 3.) Temp does not cause higher tank pressure -- as the...

    Gas Erupts from Tank

I have an 05 FJR with about 12k miles. I went riding with 3 friends yesterday -- it was 60 degrees & I filled my tank at the local Shell station. At 125 miles into the ride, my friends needed gas so I decided to fill my tank as well -- still had half tank -- it was probably 85 to 90 degrees...

How come Cruisers are so much more popular than ST's?

I think it can be summed up in 3 sentences: 1.) I'm not who I think I am 2.) I'm not who you think I am 3.) I am who I think you think I am Therein lies the reason some of us select the type bike we ride.

    Personal Tire Mileage Comparison

I have an 05. Original BT020's lasted 5,500 miles (to tread wear indicator on rear). Replaced both front & rear with BT020's -- exact same mileage, 5,500. Replaced both front & rear with BT021's last week. I could have kept the 020's another 1,000 miles, but I don't mess with Mother Nature...

Is there a Hill country group?

FJRChik -- I was the 05 you saw going North from Kerrville to Fredericksburg Sunday morning -- heading home to Austin. I saw more FJR's last weekend during ride from Kerrville to Leakey to Medina than I've ever seen during a single weekend.

    Skyway's Aux. Fuel Cell Kit

Sorry folks -- it was never my intention to offend anyone. I'm in the Risk Management business by profession. When I saw the product, I immediately thought of the products liability exposure if someone uses the tank for fuel. I'm sure that Skyway's design is state of the art. A product...

Condor Pit Stop / Trailer Stop vs. Baxley Sport Chock

I'm thinking about purchasing a wheel chock for garage storage and trailer use. Anyone have either of these wheel chocks and if so, your thoughts? Thanks, Ice Man

    F650GS Bags Fit FJR Perfectly

Both bags have an internal liner with draw string -- 99% water proof. My last day of riding was 45 degrees in pouring rain. I had my camera in a waterproof bag inside the BMW bags -- no problems.

    F650GS Bags Fit FJR Perfectly

My wife's BMW 650 GS's rear bags fit perfectly on my '05 FJR. With these bags and the FJR's side cases, there is plenty of storage room for a 5 day trip. Photos show my trip from Austin, TX to Arkansas in October '06. These bags are sold thru BMW dealers -- parts numbers 72607671319 soft bag...
