Self inflicted ignition failure.- where to start?

I've used this outlet for a GPS for years. I did realize the compressor would draw more than a GPS. I thought if it blew a fuse it wouldn't affect the rest of the bike.

Self inflicted ignition failure.- where to start?

Hotrod- I didn't foresee an issue. The socket has a 5 amp inline fuse and the compressor itself has a hair thin glass tube type fuse (which did blow).

Self inflicted ignition failure.- where to start?

It is wired to the battery through with an inline fuse. It has a Bosch relay that turns it on with the key. What I find confusing is that all the fuses- both factory and the inline fuse for the cigarette lighter are fine. There is even power going to the ignition fuse. I assume if the 50 amp...

Self inflicted ignition failure.- where to start?

I have an '06 that has been trouble free. It has a cigarette lighter installed by a previous owner that is fused. It is sitting in my drive out heated basement and on a battery tender for the winter. I am prepping for a cross country ride in a couple of weeks. An hour ago I plugged an older tire...

Different headlights for left side of road?

I'm looking at shipping my 2006 FJR to NZ to visit my brother for a month. Bike prices there are much higher and we are considering having him buy it from me when I'm done. Can anyone tell me if the headlights are the same part number for the bikes that were sold in countries that drive on the...

Putting more "Sport" into the looks of an FJR

I'm with you Mike. If I want full coverage I take the GL1800. If I'm going in crap I ride the Ural Gear Up Gobi. As for huggers, I think they look very nice but are just another thing to clean. They are not going to keep anything cleaner other than the center of a swingarm, and that is negated...

Putting more "Sport" into the looks of an FJR

Here are the pictures that I promised a while ago. In the first picture you can see the cut about 1" behind the painted cross piece.

Harvey, Are you touring on this bike or just riding locally? If local, why not just get a FZ1 and you will have better performance, better mirrors, and no need to pretend it is a hybred. I do everything with my FJR. It is my favorite of many bikes. It's been from FL to NY, Tail of the Dragon...

Putting more "Sport" into the looks of an FJR

I'll try to remember to take some pictures later today. (It's not daylight yet.) There was a bunch of cutting involved so I can't see any quick disconnect on this setup. I did lose the rearward most depression on the inside of the fender. If you leave that it would hang an inch below the sight...

Putting more "Sport" into the looks of an FJR

Thanks for pointing out the "AE" Majicmaker. I fixed that. DCarver- good call. I also use that name when someone needs my name at a restaurant or store. You'd be surprised how many people know who Harvey Mushman is. It certainly has been a conversation starter with riders that I would have...

Putting more "Sport" into the looks of an FJR

BrettB- I don't know of a bolt on deal. I've made them for other bikes I've owned but the FJR is not put together the same. I had to dremel off some plastic and make a new back 1/3 of the inner fender to get a clean line. It is also put in there before a few other parts so it would be difficult...

No need for that Rushes. I built this last year.

Bah. Maybe my back will get as wet as my front. I think the plate will block most of it. If I was worried about it I would have kept my Goldwing.

Nah, clear makes it look OEM to those who wouldn't know. I felt that cleaning up the rear made a bigger difference.

Putting more "Sport" into the looks of an FJR

Hi all, I was sick of the lack of riding due to snow, intense rains, and epic cold this spring so I thought I'd get out the saw. When I ride any distance I put on my saddlebags, factory trunk, and V-Stream windshield. I always hated the large black plastic tail section so that was the first...
