Is this a norm? Jerky at low RPM (1-2 rpm)

Cool79, Can you make a video with audio in first gear, say maneuvering in a parking lot? Even someone else doing the recording.. That would be a big help... My old 04 FJR and current FZ6, I can easily let the clutch out at idle (slowly) and both would / will pull easily W/O bucking/jerking...

    I think I know the answer, but I don't like it, so I want a 2nd-3rd-4th opinion

I think their theft resistant screws (with the pin in the middle recessed).

You don't happen to helmet locks on the sides of the bike would you? I don't remember if he put lock brackets on that bike. If so, that lock assembly comes off without damage and a key can easily be made.. How about trailering the bike down to the lock smith? Should be a bit cheaper doing...

    Torque rod bolt failure

Remember too, once the rear brake is applied, that LOOSE BOLT had some pressure on in (every time you stopped). Someone didn't torque it down fully.

    Coolant Leak

A simple leak down test will show a cylinder (or two) whether it's holding pressure (good head gasket) or not without a doubt. The cylinder won't hold pressure, bubbles will show up in the radiator, no guessing...And it'll be much lower than the rest.. And you'll know exactly what cylinder is...

    OEM Style Electrical connectors site

My old 04 (same as yours), had the main connector, under the tank, turn green and cause issues (common for the Gen I). It was under warranty, Yamaha couldn't find it, I found it after checking on this forum. Cleaned and put some dielectric grease in the connector (recommended) and you'll be...

    Coolant Leak

Has anyone checked the tightness of ALL the hose clamps? (any/all the coolant runs thru). They will loosen over time, allow the smell, and also not let the system hold pressure if really loose... When the engines hot, and if the leak isn't bad, the leaked coolant can evaporate quickly and...

    Leaking Cooling system

Check and tighten ALL coolant hose clamps... They do loosen up with the many heat cycles, etc. Also, look for any corrosion where a hose attaches to an aluminum fitting. If found, that would need to be cleaned spotless, etc.. .

Problem with Garmin Zumo 550 charging

With my 590, (not sure if its the exact same cradle), I did have some charging issues with the original mount. Garmin replaced it under warranty. No problems since.. (It wouldn't turn on when the bike was powered up occasionally-Positive line tied into the directional running light).

    Okay, so I'm an idiot!

For really light duty, I'll break out a "hair drier". Much harder to damage anything with that and you can always increase heat as need be..

    OEM Style Electrical connectors site

On a Yamaha outboard engine forum, this site was posted to replace an OEM regulator connector(exactly the same). There are numerous connectors on the site (it's a motorcycle site actually) including headlight plugs, etc. This should help find some odd connectors when needed... Eastern...

    Spencer's Seats @ www.greatdaytoride.com

When he did my FZ6 seat, he was aware and offered (additional $) to trim / fix different area's. I was happy with the overall design and declined that mod, just softened it up with the Supra core(that was 8 years ago)...

    Spark Plug Boot question

Just to clarify, there is NO seam(or rather, nothing there for you to mess with) on that short waterproof boot(the short rubber part). It simply slides over both the wire and the cap itself.. Actually, I think I used silicone spray breaking mine loose. I shortened mine 1/4", didn't do any...

    Spark Plug Boot question

On my FZ6 (I believe the same set up), there is a short rubber boot keeping water out between the wire and the actual cap. You should be able to spray a little bit of WD40 and work a small screw driver to break the seal. Then slip that boot back. Its just sealed up, nice and tight over years...
