    Nearly avoided a crash

I have experienced a similar wobble when turning and braking on a different cycle. It was a CX 500 Honda with the engine block as a stressed member of the frame (not unlike the FJR). It's a really scary feeling and I made a point not to push that bike to that braking/lean limit again. It was...

FJR Windscreen vs. Birds and other Foreign Objects

Your story is revealing -- the screws are stronger than the windscreen lift assembly. That's good to know.

FJR Windscreen vs. Birds and other Foreign Objects

"Designed to fail." That makes sense. Hope Yamaha thought of it first.

FJR Windscreen vs. Birds and other Foreign Objects

Yamaha screws are about $2.25 each. One thing I noticed on the metal screws is that they tend to loosen probably due to the vibration of the bike. It's probably a good thing to go w/ plastic screws.

FJR Windscreen vs. Birds and other Foreign Objects

On a recent windscreen change I noticed that the adjustable screen is secured with 7 nylon screws. Fortunately, I've never hit anything bigger than a big, fat, juicy bug with mine but am interested to learn how the Yamaha engineered adjustable screen has held up against former feathered friends...

    Stripped Oil Pan

Welcome to Strippers Anonomous. Oil pans cost around $200 plus installation. Plan B is an oversize self tapping plug for around $5. Try Plan B first and if you have no leaks, you have no problems. If it leaks, then you're out $205 (plus installation). There are other options in the theads.

    Loose Mirror Mount in Fairing

Will do on the factory service manual, but surely somebody's recently switched out mirrors on a gen II. I just don't want to break a $200 piece of tupperware trying to tighten a $1 nut. I'll give it a fresh try this a.m.

    Loose Mirror Mount in Fairing

Thanks. Sounds like my first "farkle" will be an owners manual. Until then any specific experience appreciated as the dang thing is flappin in the breeze. It's actually too loose to vibrate :)

    Loose Mirror Mount in Fairing

Hi All, Just picked up an 06 FJR-AE today from a private seller and need to get the maintenance caught up. First thing I noticed is that the left side mirror is very loose where it connects into the fairing. I had trouble getting enough tupperware off to access the nut on the inside...
