Update: total failure. Could still get power at about 3/4 turn but nothing else. Had to have the bike trailered to the shop for a new switch. First time EVER on a trailer. I was so worried! Now I have TWO keys to the bike - one for the ignition, one for everything else.

Add a reflective vest to your gear. I find that the "cop look" combination of the bike and a vest gets lots of attention. Funny to see car drivers get that OH CRAP look in their mirrors and pull over for you! And for those that still don't see you louder horns with a relay are helpful.

Not a lot of fun in stop and go traffic, agreed, especially when it's already hot out. For slow speed the FJR is a dream. Learn to use the friction zone and drag the rear brake, keep the throttle steady and use the clutch friction to adjust your speed and to stand back up after turning...
