A Ride To The Convenience Store

Sorry, mate. Up here we don't have those critters. Suicidal, murderous deer and jumping armadillos are our greatest threats

A Ride To The Convenience Store

 Next time I go to town I'll take a pic of Andy sleeping in his patrol car. I moved here from Baltimore, Md...just a bit different. Well, Fred, the way I see it, it's good to have some revs going for me. If I'm gonna hit the binders to stop for a deer, I've got engine braking helping me...

A Ride To The Convenience Store

I did not say it is scary. The flatlander, straight road, Floridians did. That's a 2nd gear road. No point in going to third for 15 seconds. Keeping the revs up on that road is also a prudent deer encounter strategy.

A Ride To The Convenience Store

This is the first video I've ever taken. Ever. It's also probably the absolute worst vid quality you've ever witnessed. Some folks I know from Florida were here to visit last week. I thought it was comical when one of them told me the road to my place was frightening to drive, and they were in...

    Eight Important Motorcycle Safety Tips

https://arkansas.com/outdoors/motorcycling/...orcyclists.aspx 3. The same sparsely populated and heavily forested conditions that create excellent riding opportunities provide fertile breeding grounds for deer, opossum and armadillo. Our highways cross their territory and their mothers never...

That was an email they sent to me. Go to Arkansas.com, enter 'motorcycle' in the search field, and you'll get lots of results. They have maps showing good moto roads. You can also subscribe to their emails/newsletters. eta- Or just go here https://arkansas.com/outdoors/motorcycling/

Big ups to Tourmaster's Sentinel rain gear!

Yeah, I had high hopes for the Toggs after reading the enthusiastic reports on them. They seem fine in light rain but in a deluge mine do not perform well. It sucks to have a soaking wet crotch, especially when the temperatures are a bit cool. Maybe the Frogg Toggs are just not meant to handle...

    www.garmin.com garmin

Have a love/hate relationship with Garmin. In the early 1990s I bought one of the first Garmin handheld aviation units. It was simply fantastic, no more flying VOR to VOR. It was liberating. Over the years I've owned a number of marine units, from handhelds to larger chart plotters, all...

3.5 mono vs. 3.5 stereo plug for radar detector

Gary at https://www.electric-avenues.com/amplirider.html sold me a special cable to connect my Escort to the Amplirider. A mono plug connects to the Escort, downline is a magic box (an isolator?) and then a stereo plug that connects to the Amplirider. This provides radar audio output to both...

Big ups to Tourmaster's Sentinel rain gear!

Interesting to read about the Tourmasters, will keep them in mind. I know I need to find a better solution to the Frog Toggs. On rides during SFO they kept me dry, but on the way to & from SFO encountering very heavy rain they were worthless. I was drenched from my navel to mid thigh. Most...

Winewhisperer has an outstanding custom paint job but I can't find any pics of it. Maybe shoot him a PM and ask for a few pics.

I feel so dirty and quite ashamed...

It's the short trips that'll get ya. I was out of state for several weeks, not on the FJR. A few days ago when I got home, I rode a short distance, a mile or two, to run an errand. Helmet, gloves, jacket, boots, jeans. One half mile from home 2 dogs ran out into the street in front of me...

    S&T 2010 for 14.99 @ Staples 6/18/10 Only!

Thanks for that. Now, here's a question. My netbook has no optical drive, so how do I install anything on CD/DVD on the netbook? Can I patch the netbook to the laptop and and install from the laptop's drive? Just wondering.

Nice ride & report, thanks. I visited Banff and Jasper and rented a canoe at Lake Louise in the mid 1970s. Beautiful area.
