    headlight

I finally had a headlight bulb go out on me on my 2005. I see the stock bulb looks to be a H4 with (I think) 50 watt low and 60 watt high. What are my options for a low budget fix? Are there different bulbs other than stock that are better lighting?

    trppin through the Northwest

That's definetly a great ride! I also live in Eugene and in fact am heading out tommorrow morning for a ride down through the Rogue river and into Gold Beach. Then, on down to the Redwoods and then back up to Crater Lake and home via Hwy. 58 into Eugene. Not as long or nice as your ride but it's...

    skyhook stand

I know I've seen this device mentioned several times and have noted many using it for front-end removal, etc. I even think I've seen a description of how to make one; but damned if I can find the post. Can anyone direct this senile old fool?

    LSL Sliders

After much thought and with looking over my options, I purchased a set of LSL sliders from University Motors along with some "Tupperware" items after a recent tip-over involving my blue '05. After removing the brackets from and the pucks from the blister pack and checking for all the pieces I...

    sliders

Yeah, you're right. They're very close in color and after going to the LSL site and looking more closely at the kit, I think I'll have Mike at University Motors order me a set. Thanks for the heads-up on these. I didn't want to drill the fairing and need to remove them everytime I wanted to pull...

    sliders

Yeah, those do look nice. I talked to Mike at University Motors and he needs to order them from LSL. I think for the mounting kit and the 'Blue' pucks they were around $130.00 for the set. He indicated that he wasn't sure if they were a perfect color match. How close are they for color and do...

    sliders

I'm in the market for some frame sliders and have heard 'Skyway' either makes them or otherwise has access to some that others have purchased from him. See no mention of ones for the '05 though. Can someone tell me how to get ahold of him?

    Time for the sliders

I know, I know... I should have bought the sliders BEFORE I laid the bike over. All is well. Nothing hurt besides my pride and the right lower and bag cover. Parts are on order from Mike at University Motors. My pride will also heal with time. Now. the issue is which sliders to buy. The only...

    some peoples' kids

Well guys and gals, it's been a long time since I had the good fortune to log-on the forum and see what has been happening. Between work and a new S.O. the time has been at a premium. Speaking of the S.O. I was parked in front of her condo the other night and someone determined that my FJR might...

    Tail Bag

Am picking up a rack for my '05 in black powder coat from Garauld tomorrow from the local post office and am in need of a good tail bag or utility bag to attach to it. I thought about just getting a run-of-the-mill duffle/gym bag to attach to it, but don't mind paying some additional money for a...

    flat tire

Upon returning from a beautiful ride into eastern Oregon and back to Eugene, just short of home in fading light. I noticed the bike was feeling a bit different in the way it handled. I was riding two-up and after a long ride day I didn't think much of it as the bike generally throttled well and...

    Oil for final drive

I just changed my differential lube and went with the Shell Rotella 80/90 as I have been using the Rotella 5W/40W synthetic in the crankcase with much satisfaction. Seems like a good product line. Being cheap at Wal-Mart doesn't hurt either. :D

    FJR insurance

Full coverage on the '05 for year-round riding in Oregon. Have American Familyinsurance with $500.00 deductible. Have all my autos and house insurance with them. Total annual premium is $374.30. Renewal time is coming up. We'll see if they try to pull a fast one on me and up the premiums.

    I love my SuperBrace

I have to agree fully with the kudos to the Superbrace. :D Vast improvement for a small investment. Bike seems to track better in a straight line, and is much more stable in turns. More solid all around. I used the Permatex 'Blue' product. So far, so good. Will inspect bolts periodically.

    Steering head tool

I'm getting ready to finally order some tools for periodic maintenance on my '05. Plan to purchase a throttle body syncronization gauge and also need a wrench to torque the nut on the steering head (or whatever it's called) which seems to turn a bit too freely. Any ideas on both those items and...

    lawinter

It really gets my attention when I hear about something like this. I know that it could be me sometime. I think a focus on safety should be in all our minds. Larry will be missed. I wish comfort to his family and all his friends during this very tough time.

How do you like your Scorpion helmet?

Have the EXO 700 and nothing other than high praise for the helmet. Overall, good value and very nice fit and finish. The Blue, while not a dead color match, is close enough for an '05 fella.

    V Strom handguard issue

When I installed them I found the same difficulty on the throttle side. I've got stock bar-ends (w/factory heated grips) an to remedy the severe friction, I removed the bar-end and put a couple of spacer washers under it and then re-installed. Problem solved.

    TBS

:D Thanks you guys. I 'm sorry that my initial post didn't say TB sync. I thought everyone would know what I was talking about. Most everyone here uses acronyms, so I figured I'd get on board. I regret any confusion this may have caused. Great information and I will weigh the mercury concerns...
