    Taking Both Wheels Off

+1 That strap will keep it from tipping over to the side as well. I had to use the strap because my floor jack will bleed down overnight, and I didn't want to find the bike laying in the floor the next morning when I took the wheel to the tire shop on the way to work. :(

Just sent my info, one more for Alabama!

    My service nightmare

Maybe they're like a car dealer I'm familiar with that wants to charge book rates for each individual task involved in the service, so that it adds up to way more time than it actually took. Not necessarily unethical, but I choose to work with a service guy (for my truck) that works with me on...

    special needs ear monitor

Hi, folks - this is not your typical who has the best headphones, etc. I want to listen to my XM radio, except I need some advice on a custom-made earphone. I am totally deaf in my left ear, except for a raging case of tinnitis(ringing) from that ear when there's a lot of background noise...

Which Tank Bag Do You Use?

nitelife - here ya go, not great, kinda dark, messy garage, but a Cortech super-mini magnetic on an FJR!

    Headlight Cowling Removal

I found it fairly easy to disassemble mine last year using just the blow-up diagrams from the Yamaha parts fiche. I disassembled mine one piece at a time until only the main bracket (stay) with the windshield motor and gauges were attached, then I removed the main bracket. Seems like you could...

    WildHair Accessories

Here ya go: https://www.whaccessories.com/ Irfan does a great job of serving his customers. Generally, things ordered only take a few days to reach you, but occasionally you might have to wait on his wholesale order to arrive from Europe. I am a satisfied customer.

    Custom machined Audiovox CCS-100 mount

I got mine today, and I must compliment you skyway on a fabulous job producing a beautifully designed and machined accessory. Also, thanks to garauld for a smooth factory-like finish. I installed the mount with the cc keypad sitting in it, and it truly looks like a factory-intended accessory. I...

    What grease to use?

Now, THAT'S more like it! Thanks to all for the responses to what was/is a serious question to me. I am new to "doing all the maintenance" myself and it really helps to know what products you more experienced folks are using. The humor was appreciated, too - that's the forum I've come to enjoy...

    What grease to use?

So, how long should I wait for you guys to get rolling? I suppose the main problem here is that grease is boring. :bordum: Some threads get several pages of posts in the 19 hours I waited before thanking WC; most new topics get several replies in several hours. Other recommendations still...

    What grease to use?

Thanks for the help, WC. I guess Mobil is what everyone uses, since there are no dissenters. Guess no one is emotionally invested in the grease they use, unlike tires, oil, etc. I'm surprised there are no smartass jokes, either - I left the door wide open!

    What grease to use?

For a change of pace from the oil/filter threads, how about we discuss what grease to use where? (If this needs to go to Never-ending pointless threads, I totally understand!) I know that I'm supposed to use white lithium grease for levers, kickstand and other relatively low-duty items. I...

    Metzler Belt Separation

Sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I wanted to add yet another Metzeler MEZ4 failure, in case someone still doesn't believe something's up with these tires. I had read all the accounts on several forums about the belt separation problems happening on Z4 and Z6 tires. I had the Z4's on since I...

    KLR to Prudoe Bay

Great trip! Thanks for all the detail. I had a 2001 KLR myself until I sold it and got my FJR. I have always wanted to go but never had the time needed to make that trip. I should make time for that kinda stuff soon, you only live once. Thanks for posting your experience.

Very sweet item, skyway! I'll definitely take one when they're ready. Just tell me when & where to send the $$$. Perfect project for cold weather...
