All things considered, which would you buy? 03 or an 08???

Get whatever you like and can afford. You can find newer bikes with low milage. Buddy of mine just picked up an 05 with 3K miles. Just like new for $9K.

Anyone using Motor Cycle Cruise control?

MCC is pricy, but it is a "top quality" kit that anyone with limited mechanical ability can install by following step-by-step well written instructions. I have had MCC on my bike for over a year and it works flawlessly!

    AE "SHIFT LIGHT" Illumination

I went out and took a second look at the engine idle. I thought it was set at 1100 rpm at the time of my last throttle body adjustment. Not long ago. Well, I also installed a cruise control months ago and didn't have any adverse effects. On the second look I found that the engine idle was...

    AE "SHIFT LIGHT" Illumination

06 AE with 16,000 miles. Sitting at a stop light at idle still in first gear I attempted to pull away when the light truned green. The bike wouldn't move, however engine rpm increased with throttle movement. I looked down and noticed on the instrument panel that the "shift light" was...

Starting in 2nd Gear (AE Model)

You hit the nail on the head! The test rider hasn't got it, and doesn't get it! And probably won't get it!!

How fast & smooth does the AE shift ?

Just add a touch of throttle until you hear a slight click. Then shift down to first.

    For AE owners

Both warning lights are on the "AE" model. They are located just above the digital clock readout.

    AE delivery

How many miles now? What do you think of the electronic clutch after a few months in the saddle?

    06 Re-assembly after low-side

If you want it done right, do it yourself!! I put an 05 back together in a shade over a month. Three separate parts orders slowed the process some, but I wasn't in a big hurry as I had a spare bike. Ordered the parts from Gary in Fargo, North Dakota at a pretty good discount. Everything fit...

Wait for the 07 AE vs. getting an 06 AE now?

You got that right! Only reason to get the 07 now is if you didn't move on an 06 when you asked the question.

    Bag locks

Another reason to deal with a dealer who sells a fair number of FJR's. I wouldn't take my FJR to a local dealer if my life depended on it. I either do the work or take it to a shop that has seen a number of FJR"s.

    Extra waranty worth it?

80% of all, not just motorcycle, extended warranties are never used. Big money maker for those selling them. The tactic's employed to sell them are like most sales tactics "fear". You ever have occasion to use the extended warranty?

Shifting the 06A without using the clutch

You can up-shift to any gear without a clutch on an "A" model.

What do you carry (tools...etc) when you ride?

Complete Sears shop set. Metric of course!

    The first AE recall???

Not true! Remove the shift actuator cover and "push/pull" with your fingers and you will instantly know why this bracket is necessary. The brackets (2) are approximately 1/4 inch thick. One bracket is mounted on each side of the shift actuator. Holes are drilled and larger bolts installed...

AE Pilots - Shifting technique - blip the throttle or not?

Show's you what the Yammie rep knows! Not much..... Ya, right! That will make for smooth shifts every year or two! My "AE" has 9K and I find shifting up or down to be extremely smooth. The bike is everything Yamaha said it would be!
