    What's missing in this picture?

I make sure the axle is all the way in and just tighten the pinch bolts on the axle side to keep it from turning. I then torque the bolt to spec, loosen the pinch bolts to make sure the axle is centered, and then tighten all the pinch bolts. Seems to work fine.

Power Commander V + Auto Tune

Don't mean to bust your bubble but I don't think your mileage shown on the display is accurate anymore. Check it using the old manual method of miles/gallons to fill and I think you'll see that your mileage actually went down :( . The reason is that the bike's computer calculates the...

    Powerport for GPS

Bought one very similar to this one in the boat accessories section at Walmart for about $6. I mainly use it to plug in my battery tender but also in case I need to use my air pump to fix a flat.

    Factory Electrical Pin Sizing

I bought some 6 pin connectors (6 Position 090K-SMHM Connector,Item# 6P090K-SMHM) from Eastern Beaver to match up with the stock brake light plug and they are .090" pin versions. Yes, the pins are .090" wide. They fit perfectly and were identical to the stock connector. I would assume that...

    Windshield motor not engaging.

My '08 manual (assume the same for '07?) shows that the brake lights, accessory box and the horns are run off the same fuse. Check to see if these are working. If not, may be a bad connection somewhere or the fuse is blown but not visibly.

    Going shopping tomorrow... Questions!

Check this thread out. I went with the same setup as in the picture in the 2nd post and have been very pleased with it (Givi E52 with Givi SR357 mount). I also added the Admore lighting kit which really lights the back of the bike up. The Givi mount is very sturdy.

    Squeaky Clutch Lever?

Thanks guys! Mine had just starting to make some noise and I pulled the lever and cleaned and greased it. Smooth as silk now.

    Clunking When First Starting

Mine has always done this as well. It stops making the banging sound as soon as the clutch is disengaged so I'm pretty sure the noise is coming from the backlash in the gears in the tranny when the engine is miss-firing. Pull in the clutch and the tranny stops spinning, or should if you have...

    ECU Differences '07, '08, '09 ??

I know that Yamaha made some improvements on the '08 throttle cam but they didn't go far enough IMHO. Mine still has way too abrupt throttle control near closed throttle. I really have to be careful getting back on the throttle coming out of a turn, especially when the road is wet. I've done...

    Iridium plugs on an FJR?

Great drawing 3dogs! This makes it much simpler to understand. Basically, the head is just a wire to connect the 2 ground (threaded) sides of the plug together and has nothing to do with the chassis ground. Oh, I think he was just being sarcastic, he agrees with you.... QUOTE (Zorlac @ Jun...

    New Helmet

I've had my Symax II for about a year now and love it. It's comfortable, has a huge field of view and I don't think I'll ever have another helmet without a flip down sun shield. It's great for entering parking garages and those dark tunnels on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

    Admore lighting install

There are 4 wires plus ground, which I ran to the frame. Seems there are ground issues with these bikes so I wanted to try to avoid overloading the ground wire in the harness. Link or something similar. In other words, not pliers.

    Admore lighting install

I just couldn't bring myself to cut into the bike's wiring harness and use posi-taps to wire in the Admore lighting kit for my Givi E52 so I started looking for a cleaner way to wire it in. I started poking around and found the tail light wiring harness connector which is on the left side of...

    Installing Tapered Roller Bearings

Can the stock seals be used with the new bearings? I have the same bearings ready to go in but was wondering if I need to order a special seal kit. Bike only has 4000 miles on it so the stock seals should still be good. Thanks

    2008 FJR1300a

I paid $10,999 for mine last July with 301 miles, less than 1 month old, including the YES warranty. Times are much tougher now so I'd say its a good deal but not earth shattering. Makes you wonder why someone would pay that much for a bike and only ride it around the block a few times, huh...

Do you “Hang Off” your FJR ??????

When hitting a bump, the suspension also has to deal with the acceleration forces (f=ma) of moving the rider's upper body up the same amount as the mass of the bike moved up. If the rider's weight is off the seat and the legs keep the upper body from moving upward, then the suspension didn't...

    Commuting on bike

I live only 3 miles from work and take back roads with minimal traffic and a 35 mph speed limit. I'm normally an ATGATT guy but on such a short trip, I wear the a jacket, gloves, helmet and leather steel toe work boots but just ride with Dockers on (or jeans on Friday). I know it's a risk but...

    Acceleration

… that NHRA Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars consume between four and five gallons of fuel during a quarter-mile run, which is equivalent to between 16 and 20 gallons per mile? … that NHRA Top Fuel dragsters and Funny Cars use between 10 and 12 gallons of fuel for a complete pass, including...

Pilot Road II ...took this one a bit too far....but it made it

For those with the stock BT-021 still on your bike, keep a close eye on the front tire. My front BT-021 went from looking like the one on the left in the picture to worse than the worn PR2 in the previous picture in one 300 mile day! Was beginning to wonder if I would make it back home. John...

    Electrical woes

I'm at work right now so I don't have the schematics in front of me but I studied them quite a bit last night (no, I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn). I believe fuse 55 on the schematics is the fuse that powers all of these circuits. Follow the brown wire on the schematics to connector 52, an 8...
