My home computer is having technical problems and the library is closed. And, trying to use the internet on a blackbarry is frustrating. Let me say just using a blackberry is enough to test my patience. I apologize if this answer is on the forum but have wasted a lot of time trying to find it with my phone.

Anyway - yesterday I was coming home and had the windshield all the way up. I stopped to take pics-turned key to off. After starting the bike the windshield motor was silent upon pressing the button. Everything on the bike appears to be working. The only eletrical farkle I have done is add a wiring harness for the horns over a year ago. What gives - motor? Is there a hidden fuse?

All fuses by battery are good.

Heli clamp installed last week.

My '08 manual (assume the same for '07?) shows that the brake lights, accessory box and the horns are run off the same fuse. Check to see if these are working. If not, may be a bad connection somewhere or the fuse is blown but not visibly.

I'm having the same problem, everything works except for the shield. No blown fuses near the battery.. Is there another fuse some where else? The 10 amp back up fuse is good???? <_<

Did you disconnect the auto-retract function of your windscreen? If so, did you tap into that cirucuit at all?

Have you checked fuses?

On Gen I's there is a 2amp fuse that's part of the windscreen circuit. I blew that a couple times in the early days.

yes you can see that the rubber seal has come loose. you don't have to take anything apart. if it has come loose just give it a yank.

So funny, i usually like to ride with the sheild all the way up....i started the ride this morning for work and I have the same exact problem....can't figure it out...please some one help???

I too checked and all the fuses are good and the horn and rear brake light work as well....I got home from work today and noticed the rubber seal has dissappeared into the fairing??? I yanked it out as well and the windshield works well now!!!!

I like to ride rain or shine, will it cause premature wear or rust to not have the weather seal in there??? please let me know what you think, as I will be having a service soon anyways and i can just reorder the part and have them reinstall it :(

Thanks....

I removed the rubber crap, works fine now. I guess not having all the weather seal stuff won't hurt anything?

Thank you Skifrik! Dude, you're correct. I saw that the rubber grommet was being pulled out by the arm so I yanked it out. The windshield motor is now engaging. Great advice....easy to check and easy to fix.

I'm wondering, like others, how much protection the rubber grommet offers. I'm thinking about going to home depot to get rubber insulation flaps and just glue them on the underside of the fairing. This would be a very cheap replacement but the negative is I'd have to remove the cowling which is never fun.
