Can anyone help? Looking for help picking a new Windshield

99.9% of all my miles are while riding two-up. So I can't give a true one-up opinion of any windshield. The VStream works perfect for us. I'm 6', she's 4' 9". No heat issues, as it still goes down low enough for me to get air when needed. No back pressure air or buffeting. But I have given...

    Auto Retract disable!

I spoke with Mark about this, he was referring to the second from the top Gen 1 photo in : https://www.fjr-tips.org/mods/shield/shield.html With his '08, there is no need to dig deeper to find any type of 'loop' for his project. At first, that is what he was looking for. But he's on track...

    Auto Retract disable!

Mark, Sounds like you have it correct now. If you order connectors form EasternBeaver.com, you will receive both male & female .090 connectors in the set that he (Jim) sells. He is located in Japan, but his shipping is pretty fast. If you go this route, it is best if you have a terminal...

    Auto Retract disable!

Mark, First off, DON'T CUT ANYTHING. In the photo of post #4 it clearly shows the two wire disconnect. Simply disconnect the plug and your auto-retract will be disabled. The windshield will go up & down just fine. Don't look for a loop, that is GEN 1. Don't pull on the harness, Don't cut...

    Park-n-Move

I have a Park-n-Move. I don't know if my '09AE is lower than other FJRs, but I cannot get my FJR up onto the PnM unless the bike is up on some 3/4" thick boards under the tires. Also, my FJR seems a bit 'front heavy' while on the PnM, so moving the bike around the garage takes a little effort...

    Wireless intercom

My wife and I use the same Teamset. We keep it in the 'Standby' mode, but we talk quite often during the ride. Even at freeway speed the communication is loud & clear, as long as I have the windscreen all the way up. We have yet to drain the batteries even during a two-day ride. With our...

Auxiliary light mounts and brackets from Alex

Alex, <----- seen on avatar: On my '08 FJR I had a set of 4" Soltek Fuegos mounted on Skyway's mounts. They worked out well with never a problem. This included the mating with '05 FZ1 mirrors and the use of a VStream windscreen. Now it's time to mount some Fuegos on my '09 FJR. Again...

    SAET

The Yamaha Comfort Seat is a bit wider, both for rider & passenger. However, I found it to be much harder than the stock seat. I never could get comfortable on it so I sold it here on the forum.

    Nor-Cal Ride Report

I was planning this NorCal trip for the end of April or early May of 2010. My only experience with this area was on a 3-day NorCal ride in mid-April of this year with Pashnit. Once in NorCal, we only rode the western half of 36, a short portion of 3 to Weaverville, and the west bound section...

    Nor-Cal Ride Report

Thank you very much. Your route contains a bit more slab on the 101 & 5 than others have suggested, but it seems more practical for time. I will keep this portion of the ride in mind for our trip next spring. Riding on the 96 from Yreka to Willow Creek, are there any road restrictions due...

    Nor-Cal Ride Report

I'm putting ideas together to do a NorCal ride next spring. If you can remember, please post your route from Mill Valley to Red Bluff. There are so many choices, I was wondering what you thought of the route you took. The NorCal roads: 36, 3, 96, and 299 are pretty much self-explanitory. Thanks

    Lunch at Big Bear

I understand. I have led a few small group rides and it does keep you thinking and an eye in the mirror. Since I know the Big Bear route w/ rest stops and the restaurant, it would be a bit easier for me. Me volunteering to lead your 'slow' group was just an idea to help the cause. I figured...

    Lunch at Big Bear

Slappy & Dave, As for next year's Big Bear Lunch Ride... I think it would be outstanding again to break up the 'mob' into four groups. It seems that a few riders were semi-forced into riding past their comfort zones. It's understandable since not every rider is at the same skill level, or who...

    Nor-Cal Ride 16.17th and 18th

Fairlaner, Please share the route you chose from So. Cal to Mill Valley and from Mill Valley to Red Bluff. This thread is very interesting for all of us who dream of such a ride. Thank you, G

    Lunch at Big Bear

Update: Please add one more FJR to the list. A fellow rider friend of mine, John, will be going along on his '05 FJR. No passenger. Kitty will be my passenger, as always.
