    Another Z6 bites it

OK so now I don't know if I should worry or consider this an isolated case that could happen to any given tire. I tried the Z6's on my ZZR and considered them a major improvement over the factory chosen Dunlop D220's. I've gone through 4 rear Z6's with no problem and my front Z6 made it 12K...

400mi ride and all is good.

:dribble: I hear ya Evil Henchman... C&C it was off HWY 267 about 15 miles northwest of Santee, just some little out of the way public access that we decided to check out. My wife was scared for a minute that we were going to go for a ride "in" the lake, I almost went down the loading ramp...

Ride from NC/VA Border to Blue Ridge Campground

OK, I found the EOM and now I'm really dissapointed. Not only am I missing my annual ZZR rally at the TWO campground, now I'm missing my first FJR meeting! I'll be a couple of oceans away at that point doing my job. :( Hopefully I get to attend next year and meet some of you! Wow, 2...

Ride from NC/VA Border to Blue Ridge Campground

Sorry to miss you this time Jim, we'll defintaly be doing more rides so someday we'll get to meet... Thanks for the suggestion Heidi. I looked at that road but from a map it's hard to tell the good from the bad so I had just chosen HWY 91 but I'll definately make that change. I've heard a lot...

400mi ride and all is good.

My wife and I did our first 420 mile ride this past Saturday but had to stay within a reasonable distance from home becuase the front Metzeler Z4 is worn to the wear bars and cupped out pretty bad. It had 36 PSI when I bought it so I took it up to 40 and ordered a new front tire (Z6). We...

Ride from NC/VA Border to Blue Ridge Campground

My wife and I will be re-attempting to make a long mountain road ride from the North Carolina and Virginia border off I-77 on Highway 21. Ride past Mount Rogers on the Highlands Parkway into Damascus and then through Boone to the BRP and all the way back to the Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground...

    Thunderstorm Wreaks Havoc

Argh! One of my worst fears! Luckily where I work we have big storage buildings I can hide my bike in when the weather turns foul and we typically have pretty advanced notice of impending storms.

    Camping @ Blue Ridge Campground

Well plans change like it or not. No camping but we will still be riding the BRP tomorrow from Hwy 276 (Looking Glass Falls) north to HWy 321 just south of Boone. We'll have to super slab back home from there. Not an Iron Butt day but probably 12-13 hours in the saddle. I'll try...

    ALWAYS check that sidestand

Strained muscles heal for free. Scratched and broken plastics don't. :D Sorry to hear the mishap. I read about this happening with the ZZR's so I always give the kickstand an extra little kick forward to make sure it is locked into place. When I lower the bike into place, I apply slight...

    Anatomy of a crash

Bounce, it's highly unlikely he'll face any problems from the military. He was wearing more than the military's minimum required gear and was not speeding or drinking so it will be considered strictly an accident, the same as a car crash. If a military member has an accident on a motorcycle...

Maybe you could buy one of these and cut it up to affix to your legs? Cool vest

my solution for getting ride of the BUZZZZZZZZ

It's funny, coming from 17 years on Kawasaki's I think the FJR is smooth as silk. Given the choices, I'd go with Dale Walker's set up. I spoke to him on the phone a few years ago about some carb tuning on my ZZR and he's very friendly and helpfull.

    '06 Dragging Footpegs

Well I took my (new to me) 2005 FJR home Friday and already drug my right peg yesterday. I set the preload setting to "Hard" and turned out the rebound 10 clicks. I've left the fronts alone for now but it still feels pretty soft. Should I turn the rebound all the way up and harden up the...

    Camping @ Blue Ridge Campground

If all goes according to plan, my wife and I will be riding the west NC, east SC roads and camping at the Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground this weekend. We'll probably hit the BRP and head north Sunday morning and go as far as time permits before heading back home. If anyone is in the area...

Maybe the FJR ain't God's gift to motorcycles after all

Maybe this will offer some balance to the few complaints. I have a 2003 Kawasaki ZZR1200 with 23K miles on it. I purchased the extended warranty when I started reading about the camshafts developing pitting. Sure enough, at my 23K mile valve adjustment (oh yea, did I mention you have to...

Well for now, my wife Michelle is a FJR Pillon but in time I think she'll take over operation of our new bike:

    Considering used 05 FJR, questions

Well I did my local 40 loop with some twists and turns and got a chance for some solo riding on the FJR. It is confidence inspiring in the corners and has plenty of low end torque. It does not pull as hard as the ZZR but I didn't buy it for racing so I'm more than happy. I think the seat on...

    Considering used 05 FJR, questions

Thanks Neville, I've got a Givi topcase on order already for my ZZR so I'll get an adapter plate for the FJR and just swap it out as necessary. I just did my first oil change and couldn't be happier with how easy it was compared to what I'm used to. The oil was overfull from the dealership so...

    Considering used 05 FJR, questions

OK Folks, I got the 2005 FJR out the door for $9K! I took my wife to get safety gear and off we went last night. This was the first real ride she's had as a pillon and was content with a quick 100 mile loop. She's so hooked, it reminded me of the first night I brought home my first bike 17...
