    Altitude surging on 07 fix

Ahah - thanks for that. I'm off to Spain next month - I know now that I can live with the issue until it gets fixed (which won't be before I leave). Alan

    A different type of surge

Already suggested a cause in the other FJR forum - but check that you don't have a blocked pipe or something similar. Alan

    Clutch not disengaging

I haven't tried synthetic oil. That's somewhat expensive over in the UK. Alan

    Clutch not disengaging

I had a look today. The rod fits into a sleeve in the slave cylinder - so just adding a blanking plate is not good - you need to either have a longer rod or have something down the hole - like a small ball bearing. Then, getting it out if it doesn't work may be problematic. So, I have left it...

    Clutch not disengaging

I have the gen1 slave cylinder in and it has the same problem when cold. I like the idea of the small shim - easy to try - I might give that a go next weekend (off on a long trip tomorrow, so I can't try it till then) Alan

    Skyway's Windshield Spacers

$24 for 2 spacers? No wonder there's no photo. I did this "farkle" on my '06 about a year ago. Cost me the price of 2 spacers - around 0.50p ($1). I wonder if I can claim copyright on it !!! Alan

    Heli Triple Clamp

No they are back. I know this because I have a PTT switch on the LH handlebar. With the Heli's on, it just touches my baglux cover on full lock and has made a mark. With the ordinary top yoke on, the PTT switch is OUTSIDE the line - indicating that the heli's pulled the bars in as well as...

    Heli Triple Clamp

The bars seem to be turned towards me - when what I want is for them to be straighter. Also, sitting further back, I seem to be more "remote" from the screen. Buffetting is not a problem. Anyway, they are coming off tomorrow and I'll see how the original ones feel. Alan

    Heli Triple Clamp

The sawn off bolts will come out - they are just in with loctite. So, clamp them in a vice and rotate the top yoke. They do come out (I have done it). Having said that, I too am thinking of reverting back. The bar grip angle has changed and it's not too comfortable. But I'll see how it goes for...

Effect of 2005 clutch slave cylinder on 2007

I've also got the Gen1 clutch slave cylinder on. The action is lighter than my VFR - which is a GOOD thing. I'd really like it if the bite came earlier though - maybe my next farkle (but I'm worried about clutch slipping) Alan

    MPG test on FJR

From a test I did last month: I just did a small test. Filled up at a services petrol station and reset the average mpg ('06 model). Then, onto the motorway (1/2 mile) and set out to go exactly 80 mph for as long as I could and see what the mpg returned. I managed 30 miles and it ended up at...

How about a saftey tip from each member?

aHH, in that case, I retract my statement.

How about a saftey tip from each member?

Sorry - but I completely disagree with this. You should use the outside lane (Left for the USA, right for the UK) only when overtaking and move back to the nearside afterwards. Alan

    FJR linked brake impressions

In general. no difference over the ABS of the previous model. However, a couple of times I have applied the rear brake, then the front and the ABS seems to have cut in too early. Still trying to work out what is going on. Alan

    06 Mirriors

I took my 06 mirrors off and compared them with a set of 04's I have. Identical fitting. But the 06 mirrors weigh a ton compared to the 04 ones. As to the vibration, I found some rubber grommets about 1/4" thick and put them between the mirrors and the fairing. A quick static test (rev to...

    DIY Seat Modification?

Me too. In fact, my gel pad is coming out next weekend. It's too hard and, as you say, it absorbs heat like there's no tomorrow.....

    06 Mirriors

My right one vibrates too - between 4,000 and 4,500 rpm (70-80 mph). I got the dealer to replace the mirror - had no effect. I have checked the nuts - I tried adding some rubber between the mirror and the cowl - no effect. It's extremely irritating and I hope Yamaha have a fix for it. Alan
