    American Cagers & "Some" Bikers

Wow, it seems like threads of this type are turned into "Rant about anything and everything you want to rant about threads..." GR brings up some very good and valid points. It's not a rant about "anything"... it's a rant about some very valid and obvious things... Let's just stick with one of...

    Gear Question

I agree. If yer gonna have a solid color helmet... white, or (hi-viz) yellow and green... really stand out. Our helmets are probably the most predominant things cagers see... but as others have said... don't depend on just "one thing". Do ALL of the things mentioned... put the odds in your...

    Gear Question

Agree. The best thing is Contrasting Colors. It has to stand out, in all circumstances. Black and Silver are good. White and Black. Yellow and Black. Hi-Viz Yellow stands out really well.

    Gear Question

Boy this thread is kind of right in my "wheel house" so to speak... Congrats to Brobee for getting back on the horse, AND for recognizing the most dangerous situation we face, imho. BEING SEEN!! There's clearly no doubt, as others have pointed out, that many drivers simply aren't taking the...

    Top Box

I would say that if there's a recall on the rear subframe, get it done, that simple. Why guess about it? Also, did you see this thread? seems many are putting a "pin" in the bottom of the Givi case and attaching it to the rack, so the box won't come off at speed. I have a Shad 46 on my Versys...

What's A Reasonable Wait Time For Warranty Service?

Well good results getting the bike back! Something to be happy about anyway :) Go for a ride, enjoy :P

Serious hand, wrist and arm pain

That's a good starting point Dunk. 2 things come to mind immediately. 1st, the fjr has a much wider torque band than a cruiser does. So u don't have to shift anywhere(!!!) near as often!! What does that mean practically speaking? It means on the Feej we can put it in 3rd gear and keep it...

Serious hand, wrist and arm pain

Well another starting point is ... you just got this bike? what did u ride before? what type of bike (style) were u comfortable doing 700 miles a day on?

What's A Reasonable Wait Time For Warranty Service?

Just a suggestion, consider calling one of these other dealers and ask how long it will take for the SAME RECALL you just had done. Pretend it hasn't been done and you've not talked to another dealer. Ask how long your bike may have to sit? Do they have the parts in stock? and if not, can they...

What's A Reasonable Wait Time For Warranty Service?

gotta agree with Majic here guys... it's a business! Pity be to he person that forgets this and thinks "It's all about being fair, and that's all that count's!!" Really? I'm not saying you are wrong!! only... not in this Country... We're all about money here boys! Nothing else in the world...

What's A Reasonable Wait Time For Warranty Service?

I agree learnin, you are spot on. the sad thing that many kind of "don't get" is that these types of dealerships think of a bike as a "pleasure thing". iow, it's not every day transportation. The Dealer, the Mfg, everyone involved, it's "for fun", not a necessity. These circumstances...

What's A Reasonable Wait Time For Warranty Service?

It depends on the re-call. If it's the "spyder" recall, the issue is that there are '2' resolutions. (and that's why we should always be specific in out posts). The 1st resolution is a small auxiliary harness, the 2nd is a full wiring harness. But the dealership isn't going to know which one...

    600 Mile Dealer Service

Hmmm... I gotta go with... WRONG! No offense, but the mfg will do everthing it can to prove you wrong. to say... "NO! we will not cover that claim!", if there's any way in hell, the mfg (any of them) will find a way to deny... it would be foolish to not realize that...

    600 Mile Dealer Service

I'd add guys, as Neil says, get everything "on record", no matters 'who' does it! The service manual points out all the things that are suppose to be 'checked'. It's a lot of torque settings and hose crimping and etc etc. If you diy, keep a record of it!! The dealer may or may not supply you...

    FJR on the Dragon.

I'd say... it's all in the technique Guy. It's not the PR2 (or 3) or BT023 (or 021), or this, or that... it's the technique. some tires, with the appropriate technique will go a bit farther over than others... we're not testing that limitation. If we were on the track, maybe we would be...

Clicking Sound When Front Tire Spins?

Oh boy... good thing it's not Friday! my best guess is... don't wash the bike again! ever! ;) actually, was chatting in a thread about a funny clicking noise from the front wheel when rolling it into it's corner of the garage. Happened sometimes when the wheel was full lock one way or the...

    Summer Jacket

I did a search of "titles only" for Summer Jacket. Lots of good information in about 6 or 7 threads with that in the title.

    darn gravel driveway

I hate those crunched areas... but if it's not affecting flow... who cares? really I mean that... do our bikes have to look perfect? do they have to be pristine? do they have to look like they've never been out of the garage? like they've never been used, for anything but being in a showroom...

FJR brakes -- using the foot brake

Ken, the MSF teaches braking the same way, no matters what kind of braking system you have. We do that in the Confident Riders Courses, where you ride your own bike. Nothing to do with "common denominator".
