    Brrr

Yeah, well, on a recent camping outing the overnight low was a bone-chilling 80 degrees Fahrenheit (26.6 centrigrade) in FL. With the heat index, it was 84/28.8. The heat bathing my legs on the way home felt goooood since it made the rest of me feel comparatively cool.

    Rider loses leg, doesn't notice?

So, I guess the moral is that people who notice right away have a leg up on this guy.

2 Harley riders down in 5 seconds

I about got whacked by some sort of chromed piece falling off a HD that turned into a Bouncing Betty in Lexington, KY on I-75, so +1 on the torque wrenches for thems thats gots pushrods & paper seals. Glad you both avoided HD mayhem & were able to help. I would add "able to help those less...

    FJR LEO magnet?

Saturday I was 2-up on the FJR with camping gear & both of us dressed in all the gear on the way to a state park. In Fanning Springs, FL I rolled through a stop sign at less than 5 mph, as did the vehicle in front of me. Instant christmas lights & I pull into a vacant parking lot. Really nice...

    How hot is too hot?

Discovered the answer to this yesterday: rush-hour traffic at 5 pm with gloves, full-face, mesh jacket, jeans, & boots with the thermistor reading at 99-101 (heat index in the 110 range) sucked like a singularity. Trip back at 7 pm with the thermistor reading at 95: when moving, cool enough to...

    Modulating Headlight/Taillight - Opinions?

I have the Backoff XP modulator hooked up to a 6" LED light bar attached to the luggage rack on my FJR. This allows the brake light to light up solid while giving a flash effect above it. I like this combination & it's extremely effective in low-light conditions.

    Clutch not disengaging

I'm going to sound whiny, but I shouldn't have to blip the throttle to get the [freaking] clutch & synchronizer to do their [freaking] jobs during normal/non-aggressive riding/shifting.

    '07 Rough Idle on Start

My 07 burbles & pops on warm up until the rpm's drop. Maybe the tech who did the TBS didn't get it just right because I notice mine does this quite a bit less right after I do a TBS.

    License Plate Frame Red LED's

I have this https://www.signaldynamics.com/products/LightBars/ulb.asp 6" light bar in red mounted on Gary's luggage rack & it's wired to a Backoff XP unit. Works very well & a snap to install (thanks to Gary's foresight).

    passenger backrest 07FJR

I will take Gary's "homemade" craftsmanship & stellar service & warranty any day over a mass-produced backrest & rack. Mine installed in 10 minutes & looks incredible & functions even more incredibly. Gary was kind enough to change my order well after the fact when I learned that he could add...

What speed is ok with side bag?

135 according to the GPS (on a closed course of course). Still had both at the end of the run.

    Tank Bag Recommendations? Anyone?

I have the Cortech mini & haven't had the grips hit it yet. Use a larger one for longer trips, but anything under 3 days & I use the Cortech: room for a rainsuit & stick the GPS in the map holder.

    Dropping Fjr

Nope: dropped my brand new 06 V-Max on day 2, month 2, month 12. Knock on wood: ain't dropped the FJR yet. (And I'm a pro at dropping bikes: at 16 I worked at a motorcycle shop & managed to drop most of the major brands at some point; it gets easier as you get more experience.) If anything...

    1st SS 1k

Me trying to shoot left-handed while driving & angry probably isn't a good call for anyone, especially innocent bystanders/driversby. Now, if I could get hold of a directed EMP that disables vehicles... Wait....a....minute....that would be, errr, a rad weapon of mass dysfunction.

    Footpeg mounted water container

Completely adaptable & only $1.03 (including tubing): Before anyone slams me for safety, it's soft plastic (except for the cap). Hey, if Honda can put air bags on Goldwings, I can have an aqua deceleration device in my jacket. Just back from 2,500 mile trip with temps in the 97-99 degree...

    1st SS 1k

Just back from the annual migration with the rest of the familial herd & completed a SS1k on the outward leg: Gainesville, FL to Adrian, MI, 1026 miles in 15 3/4 hours with a moving average of 72. Tried to take a pic of the gps, but it didn't turn out. Even managed to put in 120 miles on the...

    fuel range

This is a bit of a tangent, but I'm curious about the variations with odometers from bike to bike and model to model. I have an '07 & just did a SS1k. When I got to my destination, the gps showed 1026 miles, and the trip meter & odometer showed 1138. I was shocked that they were that close...
