    OEM Brakes

I tried EBC and Carbone Lorraine.... seemed to me there was some extra thinning of the rotors, not awful, but did replace rotors at one point. I pay the price for OEM 'cuz I think they stop better too.

FYB, I'm not riding with you!!........ there, was that helpful?

    2016 ES check engine light

Just a thought about the Yamaha service tool we are discussing in the other thread..... The process of entering VIN, date and mileage may be a requirement of populating the central service history database. This is kinda normal in the car world..... might be new to Yamaha dealers (where was the...

    Coolant Puke

If this helps. You can get the rad cap checked, should hold ~15 psi (or whatever it says on the cap label). When coolant is hot, system is then pressurized to 15 psi which raises the boiling point, coolant then will not boil/puke. Excess coolant will be released to the overflow. When it...

    Coolant Puke

Sounds OK sorta...... methinks Ken is right. I'd check that rad cap, but even so, shouldn'ta puked unless overfilled. Weak rad cap mighta let some extra out, but coolant only expands so much, would have to boil.... again if rad cap didn't hold sufficient pressure. If it tests OK, then I'd...

    Hooterville 2016 - Oct. 6-9

Update - raYzerman is IN, bringing my buddy Gizmo (Dean) with an ST13, will have fresh rubber. Yamafitter tells me today he is most likely out. Don't laugh when the truck and trailer show up Thursday..... PS - Hotel phone number is not in service, global folks had to transfer me (do not know...

    Valve Lifter "Bucket"

To add to your confusion, depends whose parts listing you use, you'll get different answers..... Partzilla lists only one up to 2012, then for GenIII it's a different one. Cheap Cycle parts lists 4 (blue, green, red, yellow) for 2012...... I'd say if in doubt get the nominal one (or original...

VERY Good Deal on Metzelers... $156.94 for a set.

Up here the Z6 fronts have been C$98 forever...... there are other Z6 choices for OEM spec.. more money and likely made in Gemany... I've had a few over the years, they are fine IMHO. As for the rear it is fine too, good grip, decent wear, start to get a little noisy early which really is my...

    2017 FJR- Anyone heard anything?

Maybe it will be that matte silver the Euro folks have....... wouldn't surprise me if that made it over here.

    Protecting the Mirrors

Unless you can very gently let 'er down as was mentioned previously, I'm doubting much will save the stay. What happens in an uncontrolled drop is the bike touches down on the mirror base/upper vertical part of the fairing beside the front dash panel.... the fairing moves while the rigid paper...

    2017 FJR- Anyone heard anything?

Same site says the ST1300 is getting a redesign for 2017............. Bwaaaahhhhhaaaaaaa! (ST-Owners know what I mean).

FJR AS starter or battery ?

You might start by cleaning the battery connections and see if your problem persists. The battery should start the bike if only sitting 48 hours...... if battery is suspect, which a load test could confirm. If I let mine sit after a ride, it usually takes 5-6 days to drop to 12.5V. I only see...

    Beyond Frustration--Mirror Mount Bracket Snapped

Gary, that's very admirable and yes you should look at it. However, just my opinion, I would not reinforce this in advance and personally would rather it break on the outboard ears... you have a shot at a repair there without dismantling the whole front end. If you make the outboard...

    660 Garmin versus 590 or 595 Garmin

IMHO, the 590 series is a good upgrade from the 660 series...... try GPS city for latest prices, last I looked $549. but a great GPS is still the 550.

    Torque loss after service.

IMHO, no need for a special tool, hardly enough room for one anyway..... Line up the timing marks (arrows) on the cam sprockets to the cylinder head as shown in the FSM, which should coincide with the crankshaft end being lined up at #1 TDC.. That is step 1 in case you move stuff later, you...

    Protecting the Mirrors

Neither Canyon Cages nor T-Rex will keep the bike from rolling over onto the mirrors.... tested it a couple of times unfortunately.... if you have Canyon Cages, definitely get the sliders...... the problem is the sliders are the fulcrum point in a tipover, and the bike is top heavy enough to...
