    Spelling

I wasn't going to get in on this, but couldn't resist. Here's what I think-- I don't get bothered by the poor grammar and misspellings on folk's posts. It's pretty easy to understand what people are saying here regardless of their spelling and grammar usage. BUT, the bottom line is that words...

    Catastrophic Rifle Windshield Failure

I had screws fail on me also. Not the Rifle, but I did the spacer deal with longer screws (not ss or special screws). ONe side sheared off on Rt 95, but hung on enough so I got home with the shield in the down position. If you search you should find that thread - as I recall some folks had...

Maybe I'll Just Hang on to My Gen I

I've toyed with the idea of buying a Gen II myself, and like you, am happy to keep Matilda. I've spent many happy hours working on her to make her "my own." Beyond the time, I've actually spent a fair amount of $$$ to do the same. The flip side of that coin is that I don't have much more I...

    TIRE PRESSURE... best gauge?

Yup, if you do a search you'll find the Motorcycle Consumer News test on a buttload of gauges. I bought the recommend Radio Shack $12 gauge (same as another made by someone else and much prettier $24) and it talks to you in english or spanish! As reported it's pretty accurate, within +/- a...

    Tire Repair

I carry the slime compressor, stop and go plugs, and string. The sticky string is for me and the mushroom plugs are for others on the road. Beautiful piece of surgical quality gear, but the two times I used the muchroom plugs they failed quickly. I won't use them on my bike again. In fact...

    Aux Plug

Dave - I have an 05 so it might be a different story for you, but I put a powerlet plug on my right side panel over the battery and hooked it directly to the battery (unswitched). That way I can leave it running or use it (GPS) with the engine off. It doesn't draw enough power to hurt the...

    FATHER CAPODANNO

On some other thread someone mentioned they were near the Father when he was killed in Vietnam. Whomever you are, if you're interested I have a Sep 07 "LEATHERNECK" article that speaks to his death and to Operation SWIFT. I'd be happy to scan it and email it to you if you like. SF, Jim

    Dealers

Zute - your answer surprised me! Another forum member had an accident and took it to Coleman's and was dicked around by them. He took it to Champion and said the service guy, retired Marine, was good to go! I was actually thinking of taking ol' Matilda to them if necessary. Damn!

    Dealers

Zute - as another VA guy, what dealer are you talking about? I commented in another post that the "norm" these days is salesmen and women who don't know what they are selling from their (insert appropriate gender specific crude genitalia reference). On this site I think the negative comments...

    Lost my 06 heat shield

OEM PARTS Above is a link to a Texas dealer - I've checked brake pads and their prices seem pretty good. I looked around and couldn't find the blanket, couldn't figure out under what system it's listed; good luck! Like you, I've got an 05 and have tried many of the usual tricks to reduce tank...

    Electrician's Advice

Thanks to you all for your replies, I do appreciate your time and effort. Forgot to add that in lifting my planer to put it on my bench, I wrenched my back. So not only can't I use the planer, I get the added bonus of sitting here at work with one of those heating pad dohickeys on and sweating...

    Electrician's Advice

So, I buy this nice DeWalt planer, the 735 and start it up in the garage. I get thru 2 boards, ea about 3 feet long and it starts blowing the circuit breaker at least once on each side. The line, at least the breaker, is 15amp. We have an unfinished basement and my table saw is down there, it...

Havin a cold one. whats your Fav?

Yeah, San Miguel was great if you didn't mind the friggin' headache afterwards. My fondest memories of Olonapo (or however you spell it) were of sitting on the second deck of the American Legion, behind the chain link fence, drinking SM ( 2 pesos I think) and watching the show in the street -...

    5 - Star Service?

BMW dealer I used to go to mounted etc for $40 per wheel then went to $60 per wheel. So I bought the HF mounting dohicky and will do my own from now on. I take, and still will when I do my own, a piece of tape and stick it on the wheel with an arrow in the direction of rotation. Easy to do...

    Ride To Vicksburg

Thanks for the report Pharoah. I missed a battle ride to Vicksburg when I was stationed at Quantico and have always wanted to go there. Interesting how nature changes places like this, here in VA you visit battlefields and often what were open fields are now woods - you have to use your...
