    Good Tires and Gear

All you Floridians and Texicans take note, though, the forecasted daily highs are about 70, and the nights 45-50. So plan on layering for early morning takeoffs.

    SFO 09 gives back

I'm curious about the Yamaha tool kits. Do you have a photo, or description of the contents?

    KTM 400exc

I know some of you guys/gals have KTMs also. I posed this question on KTMTalk.com, and received no replies: I rebuilt the h2o pump, as it was leaking thru the weep hole. Now it leaks worse! Can a thermostat stuck closed on the KTM cause hot coolant to force its way past the seals and out the...

    Texas style hunting...

Why, I'll have you know I've hunted drunk for 40 years, and haven't killed anybody yet. Come to think of it, I haven't killed much game, either.

    Anybody tried these socks?

Haven't heard of 'em. For $21 a pair, they oughta be good!

    I'm dumping the FJR

That's okay, pig. It's always good to see again. And after viewing this time, I'm wondering if they could design the wings wider, to spread from wrist to ankle, maybe slowing the descent or improving directional control.

    Electric car

That little car is awesome!!! But so is the drag bike. I wonder how many runs/hours he ran before needing new batteries.

    Christmas Baja trip

I'd say it takes a helluva rider to take the FJR on 80 miles of that stuff. Woulda been fun on a KTM, I'll bet. Skooter, your Photo #3 really caught my eye, as I've never seen where the desert cactus meets salt water. That is a great shot.

Got to ride on Christmas Day!

We were blessed in SE Oklahoma today with 60 F., sunshine, and almost no wind. So, I brought out the FJR for a 50-mile run to visit the in-laws and a couple of local friends. It was great to feel the wind, and to hear the roar of the 1300.

    What did Santa bring you???

Santa brought me a 50" plasma, and a new Yamaha sound projector system to rattle the walls a little.

What did you learn this year (2008)?

I learned that when you are broken-down on your FJR, 3000 miles from home, that there are a lot of great men and women on this Forum who will go to any length to help you get back home (or to NAFO). Thanks again to the 18 of you who helped physically, or through your supporting phone calls...

    G2 Tamer Throttle

I am concerned that HaulinAshe says that the aluminum of the G2 dissipates away too much of the heated grip's heat. I have asked at this and other forums if this is a problem but do not get any answers. I have the combination, and the heated grip works fine on the throttle side. Phil

    Wisdom of the Red Man

An old Indian chief sat in his hut on the reservation, smoking his pipe and eyeing the 2 government officials sent to interview him. "Chief Two Eagles, you have observed the white man for over 90 years. You've seen his wars and his technological advances . . . his progress, and the damage it...

Do you ever get the urge to try something totally different?

After 35 bikes or so I have ended up with the two best.......FJR and 06 KLR.......these cover both ends of the spectrum. There are better dirt bikes, lighter and nimbler, but all around the KLR wins. I agree with you on the FJR, but not on the KLR, which is underpowered, and too heavy for...
