    Anybody Own any Vintage Yamahas?

'83 XS 650 Special, the last year Yamaha brought them into the US. Patiently waiting for a new top end and clutch pushrod bushing.

Avoid a tire changer (Am I out of my mind ?)

These https://www.boltdepot.com/Set_screws_Allen_Cup_point_Alloy_steel_black_oil_finish_3_8-16.aspx would fit flush if 3/8-16 is the size bolt you use.

    The ONE Picture Ride Report

August, 2003, on a day trip down Skyline Drive. I guess the apples weren't falling off fast enough for Yogi, so he climbed up and was stuffing them in his face as fast as possible when I rode by.

Avoid a tire changer (Am I out of my mind ?)

For the 2 -3 sets of tires I might change in the space of a year, the HF (with Mojo blocks and mount/dismount bar) is adequate. It does have the advantage of disassembling into easy to store pieces for those like me that have limited space. If I were going to be changing any more than a few sets...

    Helmet Comm issues

IIRC, the original post I referred to contained a link for this video It's for a Shuberth C3 system but, if yours has solder terminals, method should be similar.

    Helmet Comm issues

Someone - I think it was KJ - posted a thread on here sometime back about grafting in a set of speaker drivers from a set of Koss Porta Pro headphones. I did so on my scala G4 setup and was surprised at the increase I got in both volume and sound quality. IIRC, a 25 watt soldering iron was all I...

    The ONE Picture Ride Report

Beautiful day here today, low 60s and sunny. Not wanting to waste such an undeserved gift, the old Suzook and I did a 160 mile loop up through McConnellsburg, Clear Ridge and back. Found a bit of faded Americana along the way.

    Helmet Hook

Thanks for the tip. I've used the extended clutch lever pivot bolts on my old bikes for temporary helmet storage for years and always found them quite handy. If I feel I need to lock my helmet, I have Helmet Guardians installed on the backs of all my bikes.

    The ONE Picture Ride Report

1996 was the year I resumed riding after a 25 year layoff while raising the young ones. I saw an '83 Yamaha XS 650 in the local want adds and had wanted one since they first came out years prior. IIRC, it only had 3000+ miles on it, price was right, and it proved to be dead balls reliable for...

What's the Weather like where YOU are today?

Beautiful here today, should hit mid 60s and sunny - and I'm recuperating from surgery yesterday. Come on, spring!

    The ONE Picture Ride Report

One of my favorite roads for a day trip is Little Cove Rd. (PA 456) between Hancock, MD and McConnellsburg, PA. When heading for McConnellsburg, I passed this old traction engine, sitting in a farm driveway and under a head of steam. Definitely worth turning around to get a picture, IMHO...

    Cell phone problem

Had a similar problem while charging my G3 on the bike, turned out to be a bad connection at the micro USB. When I would hit a bump, the bad connection would cause the charge to be interrupted and the phone would beep, then beep again when the charge resumed. When i replaced the cheap cable with...

Car GPS recommendation for the car not the bike

I have a Garmin 1490T nuvi (5" screen) that I use in the cage and on the bike, been well satisfied with it. Other than map updating, the only other maintenance has been one battery replacement. Also got a good deal from gpscity on a re manufactured 2797 with the 7" screen. Both are much easier...

VFR owners, free to a good home

Recently purchased a set of GIVI tubular side mounts for the Honda VFR 800 from ebay, was assured by the seller they were for the standard Monokey bags, not the V35s. Upon receiving them and trying one of my E21s on them, I found the standard Monokey does not fit, so I assume they are for the...

    The ONE Picture Ride Report

Early June, 2004, the upper half of Skyline Drive was a favorite weekend day trip. I was riding along close to the 35 mph speed limit when a doe ran across the road ahead of me. Her wobbly legged fawn wasn't as confident and immediately dropped down into "camouflage mode" (I'm just a patch of...
