IBA Pizza party in Jacksonville Fl. Anyone???

I was on the phone with Smitty at about 11:30 Texas time today. He was just outside Houston, said the temp had gone up about 20 degrees in the last 15 minutes. Guess he got through the rain and was on the east side of that cold front. He sounded a bit tired and sore (one of his earphones was...

Audiovox CCS100 Poll - The First!! (but not final!!)

That's so odd. My CCS100 is installed within 1 inch of the header pipes. Talk about hot. Works on long hot trips on 103 degree days without fault. I know eventually that thing is going to probably fry an ugly death, but at that point it will most likely stay dead, toast. At any rate, ambient...

RESISTORS (no, it's NOT a soccer team....)

Just got off the phone with Smitty. He's about 40 miles outside Houston on his way to Jacksonville. KTM is running well, sounds like the pilot is holding up pretty well, too. Smitty confirmed that he's not had any units that he couldn't get working on a different bike. Sometimes the same unit...

RESISTORS (no, it's NOT a soccer team....)

Yes, that is correct. Smitty said the units would work from 5 to 15 minutes or so, and then shut off and not re-engage. Smitty is in the middle of a 50/50 ride on his CCS controlled KTM, so he won't chime in here, until he gets to Florida for that IBA pizza thing. He did take his laptop...

    Trip to the Ozarks

If you plan on going through Missouri to get there, or coming home, you should talk to Smitty141. He's an expert on the roads in central southern Missouri, and northern Arkansas. Been there many times, have yet to catch all the good roads. And SFO would be a great way to start. Keep it simple...

RESISTORS (no, it's NOT a soccer team....)

Thanks Andre, that was as good an explanation about resistors and spark firing as I've heard, read. Now that it looks like resistor issues might be elimitated from all the CCS problems that 2nd gen owners have had (not me, though, thankfully), I wonder why the heck there are installation...

    Honda DN-01 Begins Production

Interesting looks, nice seat height for us short folks. Transmission sounds kinda cool. But the power to weight makes it out to be perhaps LESS of a performer than a Burgman. Too bad.

Should I wait untill I ride it

I released the throttle springs but never did the G2 mod on my '06. Doesn't bother me. Then again, if I test rode a bike WITH the G2 (volunteers?), I might change my mind. Some guys do fine with bone stock, some guys have every farkle under the sun and can't leave anything undone. To each his...

    Audiovox CC mounting

Yep, I forgot about that mounting, too. That might be the best location of ALL!

    Most AE miles?

10K miles. No clutch problems at all.

    Audiovox CC mounting

I still have my CCS-100 up front next to the headers in the "chin". Over 10K miles later, it's fine. I do have heat shielding around the unit, and I don't expect it to last as long as it might in other locations. Under the seat is probably still the best choice, if you don't have an AE, followed...

    AE owners past and present

I had an'04 and I have an AE. I like them both. I think the '04 handled better, but my '06 AE is slightly easier to ride. I miss the clutch lever sometimes. But I'm ambivilant, I guess. I would be happy with any FJR, they are just that good all around.

Some times I'm glad I'm not riding my FJR

That's exactly my point, man I'm glad I was in the cage, otherwise I would have been toast. But maybe not. Perhaps I'm more vigilant on my FJR, fewer distractions and always on the defense (mixed with a healthy dose of offense). The estimate is in. Under the total mark by a good margin...

In case you missed the eclipse last night

I enjoyed watching the entire eclipse. Amtrak to Chicago had the courtesy to be 1 hour late, so I got to enjoy the entire eclipse through the window at my seat, with the background glare of those wonderful flourescent lights. :glare:

Audiovox CCS100 Poll - The First!! (but not final!!)

All the CCS-100's I've installed have worked flawlessly. On both generations. Don't leave home without it!!!!

Some times I'm glad I'm not riding my FJR

The damage to the car is worse than it looks. That wheel isn't actually part of my car any more. Probably totalled the kid's Regal that pulled out and hit me, but my car will more than likely be just under the mark for a trip to the salvage yard. Nobody injured, either. I tried to avoid the...

    FZ1 Mirrors DO fit 2006+ FJR's

I put my FZ1 mirrors on about 10K miles ago. I haven't noticed any problems with stability or issues at any speed. I have a very slight gap under the gasket as well on my AE and it's not been an issue. If I was really concerned about leakage or wear under there, I might just get some black RTV...
