Looking for part number, Windshield Plastic Screw

Pierre, how many threads are exposed in the back on the screws that did not break?

"Abrupt off/on Throttle Reaction" Rider magazine

    >>I totally agree that the G2 gismo sounds good, but can someone explain how it reduces the force issue? The cam reshapes the map between the grip and when the TB's open but the spring tension stays the same.<< Well, IMHO, the prblem with the throttle isn't about the amount of force...

"Abrupt off/on Throttle Reaction" Rider magazine

Replying to my own post here... >>Recently someone posted a link to G2 Ergo that makes a throttle (grip) that does much the same as Fred's shim only it is at the handle bar and not the throttle pulley.<< The bolded words explain away my confusion. I just got off the phone...

Side stand or center stand on ferryboat?

In Gypsy's strapped down situation... definitely use the side stand. The ferries you guys are riding are on rougher water than the ones' I'm used to.

Side stand or center stand on ferryboat?

You make some really good points, Bull. The only ferries I've been on they told me where to park.

Side stand or center stand on ferryboat?

To say for sure whether the side stand or center stand is more stable, you would have to do a test. How about using a rope attached to a bike one one end and a pull scale on the other. First on the side stand... just to see how much force is required to pull it up off the stand, then do the same...

Side stand or center stand on ferryboat?

I disagree with the sidestand advice, reason being that once the bike passes center if it rocks to the right there is NOTHING to prevent it from keeping going onto it's side. On the center stand it would tend to rock back toward stablity regardless of which direction. If it is rough and when...

"Abrupt off/on Throttle Reaction" Rider magazine

    >>Remove the two Allen head screws on the throttle assy and it falls apart in your hand. Very simple.<< Thanks, somehow I imagined a rod through the center that would prevent removal and replacement.

"Abrupt off/on Throttle Reaction" Rider magazine

To paraphrase: There are two types of '06 FJR riders. Those for whom the throttle abruptness is an issue and those for whom it will be an issue. How difficult to change the throttle cam?

"Abrupt off/on Throttle Reaction" Rider magazine

Once in a great while the abruptness of the throttle catches me off guard. It really shouldn't EVER do that. For the first 5k miles I would have denied it.

    >>121K miles<< Little wonder your bike has that many miles... everywhere is a long way from Iowa. ;)

    Motorcops in Presidential motorcade crash

The video was on the news... perhaps CNN. I saw it only once. Yes, on my FJR. End of August... broken ankle and I could not ride for a full 2 months. At a rural intersection not far from where I live. It was like hitting ice in August... the investigating cop scraped up a pile of tar/oil with...

    Motorcops in Presidential motorcade crash

If you saw the video of the crash, you would realize that ABS would have done NOTHING to avert it. The guys lowsided while riding to the left of the motorcade as it rounded a right hand turn. The pavement was crowned in the center-- as opposed to being superelevated-- and the cross slope of the...

Wearing the right gear saved me from massive injury

    >>I have decided that I'm too aggressive of a rider to continue riding...<< One really CAN learn moderation with the right hand, you know....? >>On a recent mission with a new group of riders I was kind of taken aback that the ride captain didn't mention that we would be...

New color for Dutch FJR's !!

Holland gets it's own color!? How many FJR's are sold in Holland? Why shouldn't the US get at least 4 colors by region?

FJR Windshield Removal...easy or not so easy?

Ok, here's a windshield RE-INSTALL question: how many threads should you see exposed (behind the mount plate) on 7 the nylon mounting screws once properly tightened? That is a question best answered by someone who either looked before removal or who has never had the shield off. Once answered...

    Performance

While have not and likely will not PCIII my '06, I agree that my bike's throttle response could be improved and SAFER than it is presently. I have to be careful transitioning from throttle OFF to slight throttle because this transition is ABRUPT. Under certain conditions, this can put a rider on...

    Couple of questions

    >>I haven't seen any reference to changing from 12/24 hour on the FJR... My Aprilia only does 24 hour format,<< I chuckled to myself when I saw this question, since one of the most beaten to death questions from new Aprilia owners is How do I change the clock to 12 hour format...
