wheatonFJR's Inaugural Appalacian FJR Camping Meet

Hey Wheaty I've been keeping an eye on this. I'm hitting the FJ rally in Boone NC (May 12-16) and thought that I might leave a day early and scoot down Sat and join the merryment! I don't plan on tenting (using KOA kabin in Boone), so I'd looking for a nice (warm?) cabin floor to lay down my...

    James Bay after CFR??

oh yes I read your trip report. You didn't visit any of the facilities at all did you (or even get off the bike)? Plus there's the matter of "vitesse excessif" and endangerment of tundra wildlife :shok: !

    James Bay after CFR??

besides I've been to Alaska but never to James Bay aka Radisson/Chisasibi... https://www.jamesbayroad.com/jbr/index.html Couple of days there (NOT via Chibougamau gravel road Route du Nord but via the James Bay Road north of Ottawa,) visit the La Grand Hydro projects...

    Long distance trip gear advice

re hands I run with heated grips, vstrom handguards, medium weight gloves augmented as required by a thinsulate liner glove and sometimes in the real cold/windy aerostitch tripledigit overmitt. Hands are never cold anymore and the glove combo is still light and retains good feel, as well as...

    What would you do?

Losing someone can be serious but funny also. Years ago (before cell phones I think) my newly married daughter and her beau went riding several days away on the BRP. As they were then wont to do, they had a little disagreement with one of them stomping/riding off. The other didnt notice which...

anyone used the powerbuilt 1500 lift on an fjr?

One of my kids gave me a powerbuilt 1500 for xmas. Usually I used the centerstand and a car jack with a 2x4 jig for wheel/shock/fork work. There was some forum talk in 06 about the Powerbuilt/sears 1500 being used for the fjr but the results seemed inconclusive (krashdragon you there?) Given...

One Fu*king month with no cigarettes!

I hate it when people reply to these sort of threads with things like " I quite 10 years ago, and feel great...". ok I quit in 1973. :D . I quit cold turkey sort of; I never lit a cigarette again but when ever I wanted one I popped a cigarette in my mouth, flicked it about in my hand...

Fast twisty road, cold weather & pavement. FJR VS tricked-out M5

    >>>....experienced owner pushed that cage through there with G forces in all directions that I was 'very uncomfortable' with. I was torn between thrill and fear. As I silently prayed to make it back to my bike, there's no way I could imagine coming through there on the feej as hard...

    Old and New

You'd be surprised... for short rides anyway. It's lighter, smaller, has a nice exhaust growl, and seems to have more road feel than the FJR which makes you want to throw it around a bit!
