Cee Baily Out of the bike buisness

Isn't Cee Baily where I got the velcro attached headlight protectors and clear tank side protectors, too? (Please be gentle - I'm old, losing memory function and it was a long time ago.) At least large sport touring motorcycles are still being made and offered, . . . so far.

ACM rolls out Master Collector exhibit of more than 100 Honda motorcycles

At that point, I was 21, had recently gotten rid of my chopped 1969 BSA 650 Thunderbolt, admired the CB 750 and was soon reading about and drooling over the new Kawasaki 900 Z1. It wasn't until Jan. '77 that I bought a used '75 Z1. Bikeless for those 4 years, it was the Honda 4 cyl. 750 that I...

ACM rolls out Master Collector exhibit of more than 100 Honda motorcycles

Hehehe. You guys put me in a wistful state of mind: how fun would it be if for a day's field trip, we could all go back to being (and looking like) who we were in 1973? We'd all have hair, a lack of wrinkles and that wide-eyed wonder-lust about these moto-toys that got us and kept us hooked.

    Salute

Speaking of Air Force vets no longer with us, it was 11 years ago yesterday that we lost Andrew Knight (Orangevale FJR). One of the saddest days ever on this forum. Miss you Andrew.

what is the highest mph speeding ticket you have had on a motorcycle?

Thanks for having my back on post #28, Barb. I always prefer to have them pressed AGAINST my back, but with ATGATT and back armor, even that isn't as much fun as it used to be.

    FU*K FIRE

I don't wear yoga pants, Ray. Would that be a better photo op, or do you think I'd risk getting banned for that? On defensible space being year round maintenance, you're right, but that's after you get the understory cleared out enough to have a base to maintain. But you know that.

    FU*K FIRE

'Zactly, Don. Neighbor cooperation and participation is tough to come by, especially if they have to pay anything. I've done road access work on 3 other neighbors' properties - getting their permission, spending my time and money. Permission was assisted by informing them that it's possible to...

    FU*K FIRE

Unbelievable how bad this fire season (and last year's) has been here in California. It appears that we have entered a time in which the fire season has become year round, but candidly, right now is and was "fire season" here even in past decades. (I grew up on an orange grove that was...

what is the highest mph speeding ticket you have had on a motorcycle?

****, sir. Ask 'Zilla. If you can't stop speeding, then that and some long eyelashes are what you need (you can get them installed nowadays) to avoid contributing. You'll have to do the math to amortize that cost across the expected savings in performance awards to see if those are farkles you...

What's the Weather like where YOU are today?

I don't miss living in those temps, Ray. Unseasonably warm for November here at 3,000 feet in the Sierra foothills, yet I bitched about the last couple mornings trending colder. But still: low to mid 50s at 10 am here.

what is the highest mph speeding ticket you have had on a motorcycle?

81 in a 55 on Hwy 89 at Squaw Valley turnoff on a 1978 GS1000EC in 1980 or 1981. A friend had the same bike and got a matching performance award, but we were over 100 just before we were nabbed. Glad that highest speed award was well short of the worst I've been guilty of committing. Smarter...

2006 died on freeway on way home from trip

Indeed. '69 BSA 650 Thunderbolt in and around 1971. No idea how many zenor diodes I went through on that thing. But the result was memorable night riding without lights using the light of two friends' Harleys to get where we were going. The best part of Lucas Electrics (with a nod to Murphy) was...

    Central California Foothills

High center of gravity, esp. when loaded for touring. Contrast with a HD with a low COG - not ideal at 100+ mph, but easy not to drop at real low speeds. Not a wonder a lot of women feel the HD is easy to ride, even at its significant overall weight. Further, the FJR is a 4 cylinder that...

    More doctor fun

So now that you just have to change up the fuel, instead of the expected rebuild and new parts, are you still gonna supervise the guests' 6 cyl Kwak customization with hammers and power tools? Most of us are awaiting documentary video (and audio) of that operation. Surely Don is happy to donate...

    Bridgeport, CA - Sept. 8-10, 2018

Yep - sickening how many of these we are getting, but here is that one: https://yubanet.com/Fires/delta/ I live about a mile from Grass Valley's Inter-Agency Air Attack base where they refuel and load retardant on Tankers. Most of the time, that small general aviation airport doesn't give me...
