    The end of PDP

Why this prediction? No other competitive ST bike to date has caused the end of PDP, why this one? What if you think the new Connie is Fugly? What if it weighs a ton? What if it's handling leaves a bit to be desired? What if Kawi detunes it into gutlessness, like they did with the last motor...

    Grizzly Bear Hunt

Ya know, it's wierd. Looking at the pic I felt kinda sorry for the bear. Sniff. But I hunt deer each season and have no problem whatsoever with killing them. In fact I don't even care how big they are. Does and fawns have the best tasting meat anyway. Seems we all draw our lines in different...

    rear shock

Or you can buy a used stock shock from one of those folks who put in an aftermarket shock, even though theirs wasn't worn out yet. I replaced my stock Yammie shock at about 5,000 miles.

    bar-ends help with mirror "shake"?

I'm glad to hear that rotating the mirrors made things better for you. But it doesn't explain why the mirrors were fine or acceptable before the 600 mile service, then got much worse afterward. Have you considered that the dealer may just be telling you what's easiest and cheapest for them to...

What's Your Favorite After Ride Libation?

How about a nice Hawaiian Punch?

    bar-ends help with mirror "shake"?

Did the mirrors vibrate BEFORE the 600 mile service? If not, then something went wrong during the 600 mile service, and whatever it is needs to be corrected. You should have clear vision in the mirrors with or without bar end weights.

    Rick Mayer Seat

I bought the RM seat and was happy with the process. It helped that I had mine made in the winter, so I just sent my seat pans in since I wasn't riding at the time anyway. The seat got done within the time he told me and I am happy with it's performance right out of the gate. Note that I was...

    Another radial engine bike!

And here I thought I was the only one!! Gawd, who cares? Think of the wonderful, hellacious racket that thing must make when it's running! Who needs earplugs? A bike like that will have so many chicks around it you won't be needin' any pants, either! Kewl bike! Not a replacement for the FJR...

Good article on Gas, octane, and Ethanol

I once had a 1983 F-150 pickup with the 300 CID inline 6 cylinder engine. Damn thing would never start when it got below zero unless it had the 10% ethanol blend fuel in it. Go figure.

    Possible stator woes!!!!!!!

Hate to point out the obvious, but how could a perfectly good beverage have anything to do with an electrical problem? (unless you spill, then you deserve whatever you get!) Good luck WC - at least you're not dealing with the Prince of Darkness!

    Sad morning in my garage

Very true, but keep in mind that Warchild's engine had been ticking for some time at that point, and had valve guides that were severely worn. The valve guides were leaking substantial amounts of oil into the combustion chambers, and that was the likely source of carbon build up in that engine...

CFO let's Warm This Puppy Up

The ferry to Milwaukee is much faster. 2.5 hours to cross instead of 4 hours. Nicer boat, too.

    Sad morning in my garage

I'm not saying that EFI would be totally immune to carbon build up. I am saying that EFI is a more accurate fuel metering method, is much more consistent in delivering optimum mixtures in a variety of operating conditions, and if it's working properly you should never see a big carbon build up...

    Sad morning in my garage

Glad to hear your problems were relatively minor!!! Now comes the real question - WHY all the carbon build up?? The FJR is fuel injected, not carb, so if everything else is working OK is should run clean at ANY normal engine speed (assuming you don't lug the motor around in top gear at 1500 rpm...

    Group Rides

I've done group rides of several types, ranging from big rally runs to small groups. These days I usually ride solo. The main reason is I simply enjoy it more. To me, motorcycling is partly about "rugged individualism" - the risk of KNOWING no one will find you if you fall into a gorge is part...

    Sad morning in my garage

Engines don't usually drop valves while they're sitting still. If it ran fine when you last shut it off, then it's most likely a mis-fire on one or maybe two cylinders. Make sure the gas is clean and fresh. Make sure battery voltage is up to snuff. Look at the plugs to see if one is wet while...

    Tick a lick a ding dong !!!

Nope, that ain't it. The guy who puts the valves in wrong was moved to the other side of the assembly line for 2005.

    Weather resistant rocker switch

Check websites that sell marine parts. They use lighted rocker switches on boats all the time.

Frame sliders, one brand is Moko sliders. Run a search for those two terms and you'll find more than you want to know.

Bombshell* - Traction Control now legal in AMA racing

Agreed, enforcement is difficult. Prolly not impossible though. If a way can be found to make the technology work, then a way can be found to detect that it's working. For the record, I'm not against traction control in racing. In fact, as a cornerworker for many years, I'm all in favor of...
