My My My My My.......oohhh baby....this thing is

I find that after you get used to the FJR, you start to take it for granted and, in a sense, forget how good it really is. It pays to have another bike or to ride other peoples bikes in order to appreciate how good the FJR is and how good it felt the first time you rode it.

    synthetic oil in new bike

The only other 20w40 I've found is made by Spectro and I wouldn't be surprised if Spectro makes it for Yamaha. I believe it's a synthetic blend. I plan on useing a full synthetic 10w40 after the break-in period.

    Suspension settings on the 06;

My manual shows just the opposite. The "B" (soft) setting is for solo and "A" (hard) is for riding with a passenger.

    The end of PDP

I think the new Kaw will be an '08 model. It may be a year before it's released.

I use the First Gear Sport Tour Overpants (all leather). I have 2 pairs. One pair is perforated for Summer and the other is not.

My new 06 FJR after 120mi

One thing I noticed is that there doesn't seem to be much flywheel effect with the FJR so the revs drop pretty quickly when you pull in the clutch. This may exagerate the feeling of rough shifting for you, especially in light of the fact that you're used to an HD which has lots of flywheel...

    Battery Access

Never mind FLHX. I checked the other thread and found your reply. You did even better than me. I paid 12,700 but that was on April 1 (with no PDP) when the bikes hadn't even come in yet. Congrats and good luck with your new ride. I'm sure you're going to love it!

Hey FLHX, Where did you end up buying your '06? Did you get a decent deal? John

Comparing 06 ABS Brakes to 04/05

I found out from a post on this forum that the rear brake linking feature only activates when you apply heavy pressure on the pedal. The light pedal pressure you would use for low-speed parking lot situations or u-turns only actuates the rear brake. This is great, IMO.

FLHX, There is a new '06A at LI Cycle & Marine in Bayshore. I think you can get it for under $13k and no freight/prep. John

What parts comes with a new '06?

You'll probably get a customer satisfaction survey from Yamaha in a couple of months. There's a lot of questions about the "dealer experience".

    Russell seat pics

It appears to lock you into one seating position like a cruiser seat. Is that so? If that is true, then I think I would go for the old style pattern even though I think this new pattern looks better. The luggage rack looks interesting. Who makes it?

    Two Brothers Exhaust

I believe the '06 has catalysts in the header and the mufflers.

06 Heli Triple Clamp Ride Report

You think you have it bad, my other bike is a Ducati Multistrada. The bars are almost straight across like a dirt bike. I keep going back and forth between it and the FJR from one extreme to the other.

    Red Line Oils

The max viscosity recommended by Yamaha for the '06 is 40. Therefore, I'd use the 10w40.

    Rifle Shield for '06 Available

How does the tuning block work? Is this something you adjust to suit yourself or is it a stationary piece of hardware?
