    U-Joint & Drive shaft

I would let the "sleeping dog lie on futhur dissassssembly for cleaning. The little seepage on the side cover is normal & the rest is covered up. Mine looked just like yours & I cleaned what I could & relubed & put it back togather. Nobody knows the difference. My experience is that taking stuff...

What the otherws above said & before lifting or pushing, twist your body to the right so that U are lifting, pressing, pushing toward the back of the bike. Makes a ton of difference where U are faceing, after all, that's the direction U want it to move, right!...Later,,,De :)

    Cleaning Question

Then again, a couple of weeks ago me 7 year old great grandaughter helped my grandson wash his TL1000. When he went in the house, she filled both mufflers with hose against muffler. I guess that if both intake & exaust valves were open, it would have squirted out the air intake. Not knowing what...

    Driveshafts

NOPE- Do it the way the write up says. You'll have to feel the proper torque on the inside 2 nuts yourself. The yammy book doesn't say, but other FSMs say it's important to have the axel & wheel installed before torqueing these 4 pumpkin nuts, so the pumpkin will be properly aligned with the...

Don't bother with greasing the shock lower bearing

Then again, if you've gone to the trouble to remove the center stand, drive shaft U joint, swing arm & relay arm, to grease those bearings & splines, why not grease the shock bearing in the relay arm. If nothing else, it'll keep it from rusting. All mine were O K, but some have found theirs had...

    Helmet Slap at highway speeds

One of the best improvements to my '04 FJR is the Laminar Lip https://www.laminarlip.com/whydoi.htm Didn't know just how much it improved the wind on my helmet till I removed it for a few days last week. The bottom stickey thingee came loose & I didn't want it to fly away so I removed it till...

what causes my tire to wobble during deceleration

Just like front tire cupping, they all do it & it's supposed to. You can just feel it more in some than in others. Motorcycles steer straight, by themselves, by weaving (wobbling) down the road. If you look at a technical drawing, you'll see that it steers to the left & then self corrects to the...

    Hydraulic Clutch Bleeding

<SNIP>I used a mity vac. For those of you who used that did you get a 'solid' stream of fluid from the bleed nipple or was it mixed with air/fluid? <SNIP> The tape on the threads works O K to make the threads air tite but an easaier way is to make a "Tinkers Dam" around the...

    Swing Arm Pivot Bearings

Don't have your press yet? Might try useing your vise as a press. Insert a socket (or any other round tool that just fits inside the hole & use it to push out the bearing with your vise. On the side of your swing arm, etc. that you are pushing the bearing out of, place a larger socket against it...

    Front Tire Pressure?

38 front & 38 rear for my '04 Stones carring my 250lbs & stuff. Got 13,500mi on rear & 20,500mi on front originals. Front tires cupped (they are suppesed to, some more than others) but made cool sound in turns. Most of my riding is fast & streight on Hotlanta xways & it is a real workhourse. My...

    Please help identify this part

O K guys now that we've seen the pixs & talked about the part that shows up every year, how do you put the neet circles & arrows on your pixs? I can fix bikes, I just can't fix pixs...OOPS I take that back as I can't seem to be able to fix my magdyno (generator) on my '56 BSA B33 single. $46...

    Swingarm Pivot Shaft Removal

Yep, Front axle hex tool (or reversed spark plug socket) fit's it. If I remember it right, it screws into the right side frame & there is a right side retaining nut on it (behind the removeable disk) along with the left side retaining nut. Boreing writeup below...Later,,, De Lessons learned...

    Changing Fork Oil - Question

Yamaholic, I reread the FJRTECH article & I see what you are saying. Why don't you take the next step & ask Warchild to to ammend the article to read what you posted above. It's hard to write tech pieces where they can't be misunderstood. Thanks for going to the trouble of writing the article...
