    Givi V46 LED Brake/tail lights

Very nice! I was thinking if I had it to do over again I would not have bothered with the Givi light kit. Too wimpy.

    Possible stator woes!!!!!!!

If I were going to be riding through the middle of freakin' nowhere like you do, with a freaky voltage reading, I might be thinking of carrying a spare charged battery?

    Crush Washers

My local NAPA counter was very happy to match the OEM size with their copper washers. Forget the price but was cheap enough.

    CHP Had A Sale Today

TWN, I think the "bag theory" goes out the window above 100 MPH but works down around 75-80 (either that or I am one lucky guy). My friend's newer 8500 X50 is much more sensitive than my several-years-old 8500 (like several seconds more notice on the highway).

06 FJR vs R1 in the Canyons: First Impression

Good post but you mentioned keeping it geared up. The character will change if you "let the big dog eat."

    Bill Mayer saddle questions

Why is leather the way to go? I thought with typical riding pants it doesn't matter?

    Let it breathe

I recall people messing with their intakes but IMO the stock intake on my '05 has a small enough opening and a tight enough bend that I don't figure a clean paper filter is a limiting factor.

    Group Rides

I go on monthly group rides (So Cal M/C Assoc. club rides, sc-ma.com). But I'm not sure they count as "group rides." We're a big group in the starting and ending parking lots but on the ride it is usually just me and one or two riding buddies (AutoCom-linked). We ride at our own pace with a...

    Bad day for me...06 down

I have the Moko sliders and they really did the job in a zero speed downhill tip-over. The mushroom end is slightly mashed but my fairing was undamaged (just some scuffs on the saddlebag and engine cover). So yeah, they work!

Advice on where to buy Z6 tires

So far SWMoto has been good to me. Just ordered my first set of Z6's for my '05. i guess I'll see if mine separate and kill me, or else I'll like them?

Tire Inflation with CO2 Cartridges - How Many??

Carry more than you think you need if you go with CO2. What happens when your first or second plug attempts fail (and bleed out the CO2)? I went to a stripped-down 12V compressor and a rag to hold its hotter-than-the-sun-when-pumping body.

    Another Z6 bites it

Anyone know why there is a G-spec front only recommended for '06 FJR's? Why not the same for '03-'05's? I see the rear C-spec recommendation is the same for both models in their guide.

Is there an easy heat fix for the 05?

As Bounce said, riding pants make a big difference. Jeans are not riding pants. I get cooked pretty good on a hot day's ride in jeans but almost don't notice the tank in the same weather (except at stops) if I'm wearing my Cordura pants over some shorts.

    Yamaha YES Pricing

I also got my '05 at LA Yamaha. When I pointed out D&H's price on YES I was able to get it for $400, which was close enough for me to let 'em handle it. I think my ABS model was right at $14K out the door with YES. Not nearly as cheap as some folks got but the best I could find in the LA area.

Autocomm or similiar? What do you use? Earplugs?

I use a Pro7 with standard custom silicone ear plugs. The sound is great! My silicone plugs don't block as much noise as a good set of foamies but enough to not tire me on rides. Autocom speaker volume is incredibly sensitive to speaker location. You'd think they'd come up with a...

    FJR doesn't start

Strange on the tip-over sensor thought. I did a zero MPH dump and I could have sworn the engine was running but now I'm not sure (might have stalled it on the way down). It started right up a few minutes later after I lifted it. Are you sure they need to be manually reset?

You wanna go? Huh? You wanna go?

Add some "Roman Chariot" spikes to your ride? Or a proximity alarm that scream at him when he dismounts!

    ABS saved my butt

ABS will not help much, if at all, while leaned over. Excess weight transfer (or cornering force) starts a slide and it doesn't matter then whether or not the wheel is braking at all. But two thumbs up for ABS on the street! Even though I'm an ABS advocate I'll echo the question posed...

    Helmet

I keep thinking my next helmet should be a modular but I keep buying regular full-faces. I try 'em on and play with 'em and end up at the conclusion that the benefit is too small for my percieved downsides (weight, safety, noise, fit, price). The Nolan 102 is a very attractive package and I...

    Rx Sun Glasses

I wear Wiley-X SG-1's for the orbital wind seal. Earpieces may not be small enough for you? Polarizing is a toss-up for motorcycling. It can make some dangerous road surfaces transparent (bad thing).
