    Changed all fluids...

Your right, it is Mark! And I have noticed that the fork is a little harsher with the same settings I had previously. I definitely need to back off the compression and maybe a little on the rebound. I did not know it was 3w instead of 5w. So now I'm somewhere around 7w, so i'll have to tweak it...

    Changed all fluids...

Well, finally got around to changing all fluids on my 2008 AE. Bought the bike in 2009, and my guess is that it had been sitting for awhile. Was one of those AE leftovers nobody wanted. Well i'm sure am glad I bought for it!! Anyway, 3 years and 20K miles later, it was time. Started with the...

    FJR1300AE - A year in the saddle.

Hey cgknight, Fellow AE rider in Jax, FL as well. Maybe we could hit the road sometime?? I done several trips to the Dragon and one to Canada solo, but I'm always looking for wingman to tackle it again and again!! :yahoo:

Bought a new BMW GTL today

Just to clarify; I rented a GT, and did not know there was a difference, so that may be a factor!

Bought a new BMW GTL today

...or maybe it was the fact that I wasn't subject to speed limits and was cruising on the Autobahn at 140+ mph...and 100+ mph on the landesstrasse between towns. In any case, it is FAST!

Bought a new BMW GTL today

:yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: :yahoo: Will leave the FJR in the dust! I rented one for three days in Germany and it was fantastic! Too expensive, but that motor and exhaust note is addicting :yahoo:

Audiovox (like) cruise died on AE

Thanks for the info! Just to add... and I quote, "There are three solenoid/check valves to the unit's vacuum chamber which contains the diaphragm / throttle cable.   The first thing I did was ensure the diaphragm & chamber seals are good, connected directly to engine vacuum.   Next I...

Audiovox (like) cruise died on AE

Yeah, but it was lying on the cylinder head, whereas the mounting area under a car isn't usually attacted to the engine and doesn't experience the same level of heat. Afterall, its the AE and there is no other place to put it.

Audiovox (like) cruise died on AE

I tested the servo directly by applying a small AA 12v battery to the leads and it was toast. It was done based on someone else's directions since I really didn't know how to test it. I cant remember the exact details, but it proved the silenoid was the culprit and I couldn't find a replacement...

Audiovox (like) cruise died on AE

Of course, except I posted it in a different forum, and it ended up here. So I tried putting it in another forum, but I guess it belongs here.

Audiovox (like) cruise died on AE

Well, had my cruise control for two years and the servo finally croaked! Was on bike and tried to engage, but nothing happend. All the green lights were lit on the control unit, but it just wouldn't engage. After further inspection, it turned out that the engine heat/cold cycle probably did it...

Factory Warranty runs out on Monday

Its too bad you're giving up on the FJ! It is, when properly assembled, a great, proven and trustworthy steed! However, I understand the Harley sentiment; just bought a 2012 Road King and it's a hoot! FJ sits too, cuz I can't stop floggin that 103 :D Both are completely different, and ideally...

    My 2013 FJR has arrived.....

Let's see...I'm Gen II owner and now that the 2013 is available, my bike just depreciated again. Being that its an 2008 AE, it's probably worth about half of the 2013 A. Notice I said "A", because Yamaha doesn't think we need an up-to-date bike that matches the competion with inverted forks...

Factory Warranty runs out on Monday

Forget having any shop balance your tires. By a static balance and do it yourself...or by some dyna beads and throw them in the tire before mounting. I have beads in my rear (which was way out of balance = moocho weights!) and its never been smoother. Make sure you check the rim first, mark the...

Should I stay or should I go?

If I were you I wouldn't trade/sell the FJR in exchange for a Victory. I would keep the FJR (completely different bike) and buy a Harley Road King. I own both. While Victory is more powerful (106 vs 103) and better handling (better suspension), the value will drop significantly once you drive it...
