    NAUGHTY FJR

I'm pretty sure you can rule out a rod as the source of the knock. :P

    Master Yoda Riding Position

Ah, that's very helpful to see without bulky riding clothes, but which RAM ball mount(s) do you use to hold the organ?

    Potential Cheap Seat Replacement

I finally received the cushions described here, and performed surgery on my seat yesterday. I rode two hundred miles today, and the good news is, the waffle-y cushion is better than the OEM foam. Two hundred miles is usually not much of a ride for me. A four hundred mile day on the FJR leaves...

    How to hard wire XM/Ipod

Bub, continuing with the earphone hijack, today I spent several hours on the bike out in the hills, and used an ipod with Westone UM2 earphones, which sound absolutely wonderful...in the house, or in a car with the windows up. But with the wind noise associated with riding a bike and wearing a...

    Considering a new seat

My wife has the exact same issue with the pillion seat. I pulled the staples off, and we experimented with various foam thicknesses until she was happy, and I restapled the cover. The seat is now essentially level. That upturn at the rear is the problem, as you pointed out. I'll be posting a...

    Considering a new seat

If you're a two-up rider, make sure before ordering (when it's available) that the Sargent pillion seat is usable. I had one on my VFR, and the rider seat was perfect, but the pillion, on that particular bike, was a torture device.

    How to hard wire XM/Ipod

Bub, let's go to square one. Exactly what are you using to listen to music? Not the mp3 player the sound producer. Are you using just the mp3 player, or do you have an Autocom or similar setup.

    How to hard wire XM/Ipod

Bub, just about any in-ear set of earphones will work, including the ones that came with your mp3 player. Is that what you're asking, or are you asking for some sort of deal like an Autocom system (www.autocomamerica.com)? The problem with just any set of cheapo earphones is they won't offer...

    How to hard wire XM/Ipod

Thanks for all the great ideas, guys. The XM-site hardwire kit is a bit spendy but is a simple solution for a simpleton like me. However, I do like the idea of disemboweling the plug adapter and hard wiring it. I've got two XM plugs so maybe I'll try that. Odd that the XM kit puts out 5...

    How to hard wire XM/Ipod

Both my bikes have cigarette lighter receptacles, both of which make LOTS of electrical noise when powering XM or ipod. It occurs to me I might be able to kill the noise by hard wiring the plugs into the system, but the XM, for instance, reduces the 12V DC to 6 at 1000ma. I'd like to find a...

    Potential Cheap Seat Replacement

Thanks for the link, PM. Interesting stuff. Not sure it would solve my problem, but it would be worth a shot if the other cushions don't work. The problem with a broken tailbone is ANY pressure on it causes pain, which is why the many "solutions" on the market all have a cutout for that area...

Front brake pads - check both sides

Does that model year have linked brakes? Could that be the issue? The less-worn pads being linked to the rear brake? Happens to Goldwings.

    Potential Cheap Seat Replacement

They're branded "Ultimate Relaxation Laboratories" cushions. Many WalMarts will not carry them. For instance, no Texas WalMarts have them. I should receive the ones I ordered in the next day or two, and hope to work on modifying one this weekend. Regardless of my success, I'll try to figure...

    Potential Cheap Seat Replacement

Agreed...however, this is a quick, cheap fix for me...to test my tailbone pressure theory. If it works, but not perfectly, I'll be able to tell the Russell folks exactly what I want. I was able to resolve the problem on the Goldwing by simply cutting out a small area where the coccyx...

    Potential Cheap Seat Replacement

I have a helluva time riding my FJR, due to a nagging broken tailbone, and due to the hard OEM seat...my wife hates the pillion seat, too. Someone on one of the Goldwing forums posted something several weeks ago about a gel cushion they were able to cut to fit, bought for about $20 at Wal-Mart...

    Ridesmart Oct 23 Track day

Every post I read about RideSmart says the same things...wish there were more (better, more involved) instructors, etc. I've not tried their program, but I have done a number of Lone Star Track Days events at TWS and at Cresson...not for about a year, though since I taught my former 600 cc...

    Rukka Suit Review

I've had this suit for a couple of years, now, and it really got a workout the last ten days. I bought it because unlike the Stich, it's mesh, but protective, and I live in central Texas, where heat is my biggest enemy, especially behind the Goldwing fairing and shield. The mesh works...
