    no longer a FJR owner

Me too but that's one of the reasons I needed to sell my FJR. I was starting to do some dumb things on the road with the bike. So I had to get rid of the temptation. :o

I mean it weaves because it's about 175lbs lighter than my old FJR. I just seem to get blown around more on the Ulysses. Which isn't a bad thing, it keeps me honest (slower speeds). ;)

Wind is okay until about 75ish. For me (I'm about 155lbs.) it startes to get a bit much over 80. - bike weaves. But this bike IMO wasn't designed for 80+ riding. Not the best pictures, but here are some: With the bags on… With the bags off…

Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with Buell. I'd like to think things have changed since 1995. ;)

I agree, at freeway speeds (for me - around 70-75) the FJR had that buzz. Not so wtih the Buell. Sure it "shakes" at idle but it really smooths out once you get moving.

Thanks. For me, the standard seat on the XB12XT is close to how my feet were on the FJR. Buell does have a "low" seat for the Ulysses. Problem is, I cannot determine if the XB12XT already comes with that seat. The XT seat height (per Buell) is 30.7 compared to the regular Ulysses at 31.8...

Thanks. Yes, I've been reading about Buell "service" but I luckily live in the Los Angeles area and Buell of Glendale is one of the better ones for service.

Today, with just over 2 years of ownership, almost 21,000 miles, I traded in my 2006 FJR 1300AE for a 2008 Buell Ulysses XB12XT - the street Ulysses (street tires and lower seat/suspension). It's been a love/hate relationship with my FJR. It was just the throttle response that I could get...

06 AE Shift Code 48 - this throttle cable issue also happen to you?

You do not have a PCIII do you? I've had this happend to me twice, the code. First time was before I had the PCIII. Dealership "adjusted" the idle. This was about 3,000 miles on the odometer. The second time was about 13,000 miles - this time I had the PCIII. The dealership said it was the...

    Say No to YES

Having the AE and not knowing the life of the clutchless transmission, it was a no brainer for me. As stated before in this thread, it was "insurance" for me and my bike and the unkown....

Sell the FJR, or will a PCIII fix the throttle?

For me, the PCIII in my 2006 AE didn't help with your comment quoted above. I've given up with riding the twisties due to this fact and only "tour" with my FJR to/from work and "touring" on the weekends (freeways). I have 20k on my FJR. I've had the PCIII for about 15k of that.

    Most AE miles?

Yes, it's electronic. 20,000 miles on my 2006 AE. No clutch issues (knock on wood). I've had my ignition "fail" two different times between 16,000 and 18,000 miles. I've also had the SH__48 code twice. First time dealership said my idle was too fast (no PCIII at the time). Second time...

    question for florida residents

Just a general question: do you need a motorcycle license in Florida if you ride a 49cc scooter? Thanks for any info.

    test rode the BMW K1200R

Haven't really read any drive shaft failures. Regarding the general cost to maintain a K vs. a R, I do not know that either. When I take my FJR for major service, it's $300-500 each. I wouldn't call that cheap. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful but the cost of ownership is something I don't...

    test rode the BMW K1200R

During my 20 minute test ride I couldn't feel any buzz. However, I was still in shock with how smooth the throttle felt and how "light" it felt. I have read that anywhere between 5-6k rpms it can be buzzy. But 6th gear on the freeway (approx. 70-75mph) will put you in around 4k and there's no...

    FJRF003.0: Ignition Failures on FJRs

Wow, guess I'm late to the party. I've had my ignition "fail" on me. Funny thing is it only started after I got my AE back from the dealership for her 16k service. Only has happened when it's been really hot (100+). And it only happened when I went to start the bike. It took a couple of...
