We haven't really discussed it enough to know what he might do, but without even negotiating he told me he could knock $1,000 of sticker.
A $1,000 off of MSRP for last years model,,,WHAT A DEAL!

Let me throw this up for grabs my friend......Just who is gonna service your BMW? Your Yamaha dealer won't, as he won't have the parts, nor will give a damn....let alone have anyone trained to work on it (probably never had anyone BMW certified in the first place)...........I've seen post after post in the BMW chat rooms from BMW owners who are venting frustration as their hometown dealer closing shop or, like yours, just dropping BMW. Now they're faced with having to ride a 100 miles away for service........that is if they're lucky and the bike can make it that far.

BWAAAAAWAWWAAAAAAAA!

And a $1,000 off of MSRP for last years model.....

BWWHAAAAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAAAHAHAHHAA
Gee, where did I say it was last years model? You must have some amazing reading skills, because I never said anything about what year it is.

Second of all, the next thing you say seems aimed at me (although I realize that based upon your reading skills, your writing skills might be just as suspect). I don't have a BMW or one on order. I have a 2006 FJR on order.

The other thing I noticed, owning a 'ball-burner' FJR I'm sensitive to this issue, is that there doesn't seem to be any way for hot air to flow downstream.

I got on hands and knees looking all over (and under) the bike for radiator vents but couldn't fine anything even close to the vents on the FJR (which some of us know don't work very well in high temperatures). I mean, BAVARIANS :drinks: designed this thing so I gotta believe it works somehow, I just don't see how.

Ah I see that jjsC6 has run afoul of our local troll.

Jim, just ignore him. We keep hoping he will grow up and/or go away.
Wow, to think I have "mowed down" a troll this early in my career on this forum :haha:

Like Pappy, I saw it at the Detroit auto show.  I haven't liked the pics I've seen - too slab-sided, and real life it was the same.  But what really turned me off was sitting on it - it was *****!!!  The riding position was odd.  I was really surprised because I really liked the previous K1200GT riding position - the best I've ever experienced, confirmed with a good ride on one.  But the new one doesn't compare with the old one, nor, of course, with my FJR.
You're complaining about styling and seating position - both completely individual and subjective.

We need to wait until a road test to know how the bikes compare.

Yes, those things are individual & subjective, as will be any evaluations in any comparison test - the individual and subjective opinions of the tester.

There is no objectivity outside of power & performance numbers. But then, that's what I thought these forums were for - expressing opinions. If it was only objectivity expressed, the forums would be almost non-existent. But that's just my own individual & subjective opinion. Yours may be different, but no more or less true.

Correction. $12,360! I don't know what I was thinking ! Including taxes and paperwork! No freigth or set up! What's the discount on the K12S? Just curious... We haven't really discussed it enough to know what he might do, but without even negotiating he told me he could knock $1,000 of sticker.

Just for the record I'm on the same boat as you are. No beemer and FJR on order. But even if for the sake of argument that were true. $6k difference after everything is said and done. Do you really think the beemer is worth $6k more? I don't. I'd give it perhaps $2k more for the front suspension and the ESA. But that's as far as I'd be willling to go. And I'm sure there are more like me out there. I'm also sure that their bean counters have run their numbers and the amount of sales does satisfy them so.... everybody is happy, I suppose....

My $0.02...

I'm just pointing out that we should probably wait until someone actually rides the bike before drawing strong conclusions. Your opinions, certainly valid, seemed a little strong and subjective. I think we should keep an more open mind. And I generally avoid any comments on styling when I talk about a bike - it's strictly an individual thing.

My brother in law in Albuquerque got one and hated it. He went out and bought a new gold wing within a month of owning the K1200. It is for sale now if anyone is interested, he will make you a good deal - it has less than 1K miles on it.

What's wrong with you guys? For only an extra 6K, you get to have a "Roundel"!! When I read through the BMW lit, they mentioned the Roundel several times. Enough to make me think that Roundels will someday be worth MUCH more than a petty 6K.

Between friend's bikes and test rides I got to sample the bikes I was interested in. I bought my FJR because I liked riding it better than the BMW's. Well, that and I couldn't (ahem) afford the Roundel. Just another missed investment opportunity, I guess. Kinda like those bar and shield logos. :D

What in the hell is a Roundell? This could be important, maybe we can make a group buy and put one on our FJR's - yeah then we will be as good as BMW, heck lets put 2 Roundells on our bikes.

Hey, that's a LOGO - sure it is round but seriously a Roundel must be something critical or why would BMW mention it more than once? Lets see........round, hemmm, maybe something to do with a round wheel.

Actually, the basis of the "roundel" is a propeller. You know, like airplane propellers...vintage WWII airplane propellers. After the war, when the factories retooled for motor vehicle production, they kept the roundel for a logo.

I belong to the CRVBMW and looked forward to getting a BMW for years. But the problems with the new bikes really scared me away(and others in the club). Each year the number of FJR's is growing. Lets hope BMW can get their act togther with the new bikes.
