Go for it knife. I agree, the biggest problem with the bars is the "sweep". Why can't we just lop off the bars and reweld at a better angle?

AJ -Was it worth the $329 + S&H?? Are you handy with tools and did you do the work yourself? How difficult was it to tackle and replace?

Just curious as my biggest problem with the '06 is sore hands. It's not from leaning on them but something else I haven't been able to narrow down. I don't have any problems with the hubby's '05 and sore hands.
I'll bet it's the angle of your wrists - not up and down, but out. As your arms come closer together at the wrists, I'll bet you find your hands are pointed out more than you're used to. That was a MAJOR problem for me with the Concours bars, but not on the Feej.

Did the installation of the Heli Triple clamp with Pappy this weekend. Everything went pretty smooth except for getting the ignition switch out of the old triple clamp. Sorry to say it, but Mr. hacksaw :assassin: got involved, and the original T-Clamp is now officially garbage.

Ride Report: This modification is definitly worthwhile if you experiencing any back, shoulder, or wrist pain. My problems were mainly in my wrists (expecially in stop and go traffic). The angle of the bars combined with the amount pressure placed on your wrists due to the seating position, was giving me a carpel tunnel like Experience. This mod reduces my wrist pain by 75%. This farkle, in addition to my corbin seat, gives me a totally different ride than what i started with. This combination is a ticket to the front row if your vertically challenged.

Thanx again Pappy for all your help. See if you can get those pixs posted!!!!

First decent ride after installation, 580 miles around central Cal, including Carmel Valley Road, Nacamiento Ferguson Road, Hwy 1 (44 miles) above Cambria.

I didn't experience the amount of difference that I'd expected after reading some of the early posts, however, when I got home, no wrist pain at all. So it's a keeper.

Heli just recently announced a 3/4 inch riser for the new triple clamp. Details will be released the week of september 25th. Another move in the right direction IMHO.

What do you mean by this? What is being cut-up? Any pix? Also, does Heli address this issue in their instructions?

Thanks and sorry for the questions... I'm on the fence about these risers and if it's a challenge to install I may wait.

I couldn't get the ignition switch bolts out. It's hard to do with a hand drill, you really need a small drill press (one of those $100 ones from Sears now, I'm not talking about buying a machine shop). I ended up cutting-up the old t-clamp with a hacksaw to get the switch off.

If you're good with the drill you should have no problems. The instructions suggest an intitial and final drill bit size to use. My problem was that I didn't have an approriate center-punch (a $5 item) and I started with drill bits that were too small and ended up off-center on the bolts. Once that happens you risk drilling through the switch housing. I decided to stop and we mutually decided that cutting-up the old part was ok so we went to town with a hack-saw.

Other than this issue, I was frankly amazed at how easily the the parts came off and went on. Unload the front wheel the old one pops off and the new one pop right back on. The quality of the Heli part is incredible and once you hold it in your hand it's immediately obvious why it costs as much as it does. If I go ahead and buy the '07, I'll have the t-clamp before the bike.

Please don't tell me how much better the '06 would be with a Russell seat.
I *highly* recommend the Bill Mayer Saddle as well; I got the dual seat, heated driver's seat, with basketweave vinyl and paid ~$600. I could do ~500 miles in a day before getting a numb butt with the stock saddle. Got this new one for a trip to Banff; me n' the girlfriend did 600-700 mile days when we were hauling ass to get to then mountains, then again on the way home, and after 2 1/2 weeks my girlfriend finally told me her butt was getting "a little numb"--when we were 90 miles from home!

Truely, they're the sh1t. :D

Anyway, thanks for the ride report. I'm interested in hearing how you like it a few months down the road; some farkles seem great at first, but just don't have the 'staying power' they should. I haven't had any real complaints, even on my trip; there were times I would think to myself no, dummy, hands are for steering! And sometimes my shoulders or back would get a bit tired, but then again those were 700 mile days, and I think I'd get tired no matter what....
