I didn’t know they made them in 2002!
Care to share your souped up suspension and brake mods? I also have a 2003 and would be very interested in knowing what you did to your suspension and brakes.
I was at the end of 2003 delivery. Most had their 2003 model early fall of 2002I didn’t know they made them in 2002!

What is a rear 4 way shock? You say....."Spring for just my weight and no passenger"....do you mean the fork?Advertising said brakes of the R1! Wait this beast is a little heavier.
Galfer wave rotors, stainless brake hose, fork brace, forks and rear 4 way shock sent out for cleaning every couple of years. Spring for just my weight and no passenger. I keep it soft sprung for my sensitive behind!
4K??!! That's amazing, very cool, and I would love to see this bike in person to compare to mine, but I'm puzzled; why don't you ride it more? I mean, that's why we have these bikes, to ride, right? At 4k, you might not even know yet that your bike has the defective valve guides.January 13, 2003. I believe, according to the serial number, that mine was the 24th FJR imported to the US (someone would have to fact check me on that). Mine has only about 4K miles on and is in pristine shape. Never dropped.
Mine is serial #9. The lowest I've ever heard of was #6 (it was a ticker, I met up with him to confirm the diagnosis). #7 and #8 were demonstrators initially loaned out to the magazines for test rides and later on Ride days promotions for select members of the public. One of those was later sold into private hands, I don't know what happened to the other, but was told it "couldn't be sold to the public" making me suspect it too became a ticker and was quietly stripped down by Yamaha engineers for diagnosis.January 13, 2003. I've done the fork brace, stainless hoses, 2004 springs in the fork.
Only one ride a yearAwesome! I wonder, you may have the oldest FJR in 'original possession'! Way cool Mr. Bill!
How many miles on it?
