You may have shat in your nest, but I'm thinking they have left Santa Anna for Spokane. Just saying....

At least one good bit of news, from the LDRider list....

Subject: [LDRider] FW: Scott LaShier
If you have been following Tom Austin's rally updates, you are aware that

Scott LaShier had a tire problem on I40 and was injured. I got this info

from family friend Gary Stipe and wanted to pass it on:

I don't know if you have found this out or not, but Scott's surgery to

repair his pelvis was successful. He's still intubated and will probably

remain so for up to a week.

Folks can email him at: https://www.sunrisehospital.com/PatEmail.asp and

send it to Room TI09 under the name of Raymond LaShier

He's in good spirits and writing notes asking questions of all the staff...

Remember that this is the longest leg, with riders spread out farther than ever in the rally so far. Aside from the call in bonus(es) and riders calling in with issues, or to question the RMs sanity, it may be a bit lite on info for the next few days.

I'm following one rider on his pw-protected spot tracker. He's been holding to a BBG pace including the stops for bonuses. MAN OH MAN these guys are on a mission!

If by any chance the FJR Forum riders are reading this, just look at the post count to see how interested we all are, in your progress! Take care guys. Ride safe and ride smart. Looking forward to hearing your war stories, after you've all got safely home, fed, watered and rested.

GO TURBO !!

GO IGGY !!

GO SKOOTER!!

Thanks... Haven't met Scott, I either sent 3 notes or zero notes - it is hard to tell the way they wrote their application...

This is very good news. Thanks for passing that along.

Cheers,

Can anybody explain to me the rules involving 2-up riders? Do they have any requirements about who drives, who rides and that sort of thing? I realize that it would present its own set of challenges but I could see where the right pair of riders could do very well in this type of competition, switching off riding and resting/routing and basically not stopping except for mandatory rest stops.

Hey folks,
If you haven't heard already:

I don't think Derek will mind me posting this, since he is officially out. He left me a phone message this morning and said he went down pretty hard in gravel and broke his collarbone. The bike was pretty banged up but still "rideable". He is working his way home today slowly. I've never ridden with a freshly broken collarbone but I can't imagine another 1500 miles would be comfortable. :(
Derek Dickson was the other one of the two FJR1300s I mentioned yesterday that had problems... and yes, Derek won't be at the Finish. Bummer.

I am on the way north to Spokane, stopped off at RenoJohn's place to catch a free zzzzz's before pressing north.

Can anybody explain to me the rules involving 2-up riders?
Same pilot, same navigator, at all times.

And they can NOT switch roles.

Matt is currently on I90 in South Dakota heading east. It appears he got bonus' in Utah, Idaho, Wyoming and South Dakota.

Greg appears to be running exactly the same route, but it looks like he is about 30 miles behind Matt.

Best wishes to ALL the participants. Ride well.

Sorry to hear of Derek Dickson's spill....hope he feels better, and the other crasher's as well.

Everybody get home safely...

GO SKOOTERG! :clapping:
