I am actively searching for a replacement as we speak. I've missed a couple of good buys by a few weeks. And I am still discussing the market values with ins co.Great, Glad you decided to get in on this one. Oh, I understand oh too well. How much is the buy back from the insurance company?Had the insurance news this week. (after getting rear-ended on my way to Denver)
Superficial damage to bags, exhaust, headlights, gas tank, front cowling - without looking underneath anything - is $7500 CAN, which is more than the bike is worth.
I am trying to hold on to it, and want to find an exact replica with lower miles. Then I'll have my wheel/tire change addressed for a major rally.
Bike still runs strong even if it looks a little banged up.
This bike has a big heart, and I hate to see it get parted out. I put 7500 miles on it after the accident, and it never complained or hiccupped. Want to keep it in the family.
This is not supposed to be an emotional decision.
But it is.
No hard numbers yet.Oh, I understand oh too well. How much is the buy back from the insurance company?
Sounds too familiar...I have mine in my garage now and I need to strip it. Agreed to a fair total loss settlement as estimate was over $8k usd. Buyback offer was way too high at $3600. I know where they take 'em here in IA and will be watching (possibly bidding) at the auction. I was planning to keep her for the exact same reasons. Maybe I'll be able to get her back in the end.The bike will sit in my garage until someone shows up with cash in hand, and a reasonable buyback price.
My guess is it will be less than a set of used wheels - I mean the actual wheels, not "wheels" as in a used bike.
I can use a set of extra wheels.
