RJ,You must factor in that some of the top FJR riders are sitting this one out and waiting for the BIG

dance next year. Iggy and Scooter would both be top 10, not to mention a few others. See the spank

results just last week. Matt's worst showing so far this year has been 2nd.

I'm not about to 'diss on the riders in this rally and am just reporting facts.

NO doubt who I'm rooting for in this rally ----and from watching the pace me guesses that Peter is doing pretty well. Trust me, that bike loves to run so it's a great pair.

Rooting for Peter as well. Really good guy - I'm just glad to see he's got a new set of license plates on the bike from the last time I saw it! That old plate would've got his ass kicked by FJR riders AND BMW koolaid drinkers

No way, he should have kept that plate. It was good fun. He put that plate on the bike before he even registered it! He left Reno with that plate on! LOL

After the halfway checkpoint, he's mid-pack, and doug is there too.

No FJR's in the top10 at this point, seems that the FJR's days as competitive rally bike are over ...statisticly speaking, you're certainly entitled to your opinion, but in this rally so far you won't be able to back it up with fact.

On the other hand, Honda has 5 of the top 10 positions. -or 50%

If you are talking statistics John...one race is ONE data point. I'm not into statistics, but even a laymen can see that you can't even draw a line with one data point let alone give a regression analysis as to which way the line trends...so who are you crappin? :lol:

But quite frankly, these events seem to be more about the guts, planning and smarts of the rider, and being at the right place at the right time, and the bike only comes into play when a mechanical failure occurs...

...which I think hasn't occured too often with an FJR...unless you have some statistics to back you up there Johnboy.

OR. are the FJR riders playing it rally smart ..................hanging back, staying resting so they can hammer on the bigger points on leg two?

I'm certainly up for that ...and let's hope MamaYama moves forward on the Gen3, not another step backwards as they did on the Gen2. Uhh, like lighter not heavier, like faster not slower, like more reliable not plagued with issues that can leave you stranded .....

Yep, a step forward on the Gen3 would be a good thing.

I got to talk to 2 of the riders in this rally at the Legends ride in Jacksonville this March...

1) Kirsten- Had a board fall out of a truck, blowout her tire and damage her rim beyond

driveability. (I also rode a 100CCC with her)

2) Brian- At 23 years old, he's a heck of a rider. He hit a bear in CO. His bike is damaged

and although he's OK, it looks like he is out.

Stay away from me if you plan on rallying!!! :angry:

Can we just get the "bear facts" on this incident? And by the way, I've had a couple of DL650s in the past, and the "girlie" bike may not out drag an FJR or have a higher top end but for almost anything else, it will get the job done very well.

Not quite. This young lad was riding a SV650S. Let's face it, the Girlie-Strom is an Old Phart's kind of bike.

Nice guy. Iggy was dragging what looked like a 14 year old around introducing him to everyone. I was envious that he was getting into this stuff so early. Like when your body can handle any kind of torture thrown at it, and you can still pull off several all-nighters in a row.

Good catch Scooter... had to check the rider chart. I think Brian was running in the 20's, position wise.

What a strong start... he will be around again. I made the mistake when I met him of thinking his riding

partner was his father. Looking for a smiley with a foot in the mouth.

Just got home from the IB 5000, congrats to all the FJR guys on a fine finish. My friend Mike had a great ride and finish.
