¡¡ SPOILER ALERT !!

The 2013 Iron Butt Rally: Day 5

Leg 1 Standings

"Dale Wilsons Yamaha FJR forum will be a noisy place today. Their beloved bikes crushed the field in the first leg of the 2013 Iron Butt Rally, nailing down 1st, 3rd, 4th, and 9th places. And but for a screwed up call-in bonus, the marque would own four of the top five places this morning."

Loved reading that this morning! Being statistically underrepresented compared to BMW, it says loads about the quality of the machine and more importantly, those who choose to ride them.

Go west!

Congratulations to the riders and the awesome representation of the FJR we're seeing.

Just read the Day 5 Daily; especially proud to be an FJR owner this morning. Way to guy Riders! Would like to poke whoever F'd up the phone call though, once they are over the disappointment of it. :)

At some point in the near future, will they post the list of leg one bonus locations so that all of us armchair quatrerbacks can play around with our own ideas? I'd just like to see where all of the possibilites were. I'm pretty sure one of the locations was the AACA museum outside of Hershey,PA.

Read the Day 5 (Off to California) Report. (in my post above; for some reason, I can't copy and paste it from my iPad  )
It's no secret ;)

Sorry - I see you did read it.....

It was IGNACIO who unfortunately dicked up his call-in phone bonus!!!

Saw that. So let me get this right. First out the gate after pussin out on his haircut, then screws the pooch making a phone call.

I have great expectations of how you're going to handle this at the finish Dale. And I'll be there with a smile - watching with a camera.....

Even though the American Iron has the most sales out of bikes it sad to see only one rider pluggin along. Says a lot.

Dam it Iggy! Never mess with the haircut.

Dave,

While I am sure he is agitated with himself, if Iggy is gonna screw up a gimmie bonus, it might as well be on Leg One while there is sufficient time (and increased point values) to make this up... still a looooooong way to go for all these riders....

They apparently had a nice sunrise this morning....

How about that 250 Ninja hanging in there at 58!

That's true. That rider is Rex LeGalley. Had he not blown the bonus at Henry Ford -1666 points, he'd be sitting in 20th place. He's one to watch.

This particular IBR is heavily sprinkled with our best riders, regardless of their steeds. Frankly, though I'm a BMW kinda guy, nothing would please me more than to see the lone Hogly Ferguson in the top ten or better.

Awesome rides so far.

Yesterday afternoon I arrived at the checkpoint in Pittsburgh and watched the riders as they came in.They all seemed to be in good spirits and well rested.

I really enjoyed being there and even got the opportunity to help out a rider with a flat tire only 20 miles from the checkpoint.Luckily my friend rode with me to the event and his bike was the same as the rider in distress so we took his wheel assembly off with the help of Roger Sinclair and I strapped it down on my KLR and ran it out to him so he could make it back in and then Roger mounted up a new tire for him.

Unfortunatly I couldnt stick around too long as I had to head back to Detroit for work today, but will try to make it back out there for the finish next Friday.

What are the times for the finish on Friday so I know when to be there ???

WAHOOOO!!!!!!!..THAT'S MY WIFE....this is her account.......BUT THAT'S MY WIFEY!!!! Great job FJR riders, the krotch cookers are bringing it!
Oh dear. You're going to be insufferable to deal with when the announce her podium finish aren't you Mike. We're supposed to get together for drinks after she gets settled in. Are you going to be calmed down by then....? She's kicking some awesome points down...
