2014 Rumours... CFR on 'da rock' ?

There are a few that don't want it in Newfoundland but those that are willing to actually do the work to make CFR happen all seem to be on the same page and the Rock it is. August 14-17, 2014 seems to have the most traction at this point.

Stanley owns a Kawisucky and is not even Canuckistani therefore anything he has to say is of no consequence whatsoever.

If he is having problems with his wallet I can bring my prybar to help him out.

We will nail the date down and make an official announcement in a few days... as Fitter said, 14-17 Aug is looking about right...

Do we have an official Rally *******, or are we just gonna wing it?

Griff, if you want the job we are all voting for you! If not we are voting for yamafitter, he is already worthless and retired plus it will keep him out of Tim Horton's eh!

Looks like we are going to do the time honoured Canuckistani thing and form a committee rather than have a vastly overpaid American type CEO for CFR in 2014. While I agree that I am retired and worthless Don is once again wrong in that there is nothing on earth that can keep me out of a Tim Horton's.

Since we don't have a Newf to take the lead, do we at least have a Bluenoser? Or some such? Or are we doing this from afar?

I could put my niece in charge since she will now be working in St John's but having a Polish Newfie who is also blond and doesn't ride may not be a good idea.

We have an idea about a hotel and we got some routes and it looks like we have settled on a date. When we initially talked about this that was about all we were going to worry about. No banquet, no shirts, no swag. Just come and ride the Rock. Personally I'm good with that.

If others want to tag along afterwards I'm heading to St. John's to visit with my niece and goof off in the Avon Peninsula for a few days. The plans around that part are well off into the future but we could do something like the Apres CFR ride we did on Cape Breton Island a few years back.

Works for me Bill. I'll gen up the details with the hotel and fire you a note over the weekend.

I reckon banquet will be more like "call a local pub and tell 'em we're coming so they can start pouring." Anything more formal than that is foolish and simply gets in the way of the important consumption of beverages...

I'll probably be headed toward St John's as well afterwards. Either that or the trans-Lab. Or both. We'll see...

Damnit to Hell KJ, as Mary Ellen's long time friend I have to strongly protest! MEM has lost a ton of weight since this pic was taken, eh! jes' sayin' and nuff said!
@Don S- there ya go, stirring the pot ;)

@MEM- Don't come down on me on this one. Hey, we all know you're a true red-head!

@Bill- You just got WAY too much time on your hands.

@Griff- Liquid Banquet werks for me!

Here's the reason Papa Chuy Viejo rides North each and every year on his FJR to CFR, for the hot Canuckistani Babes eh! Smokin' Beauty, eh!

One of the best Newfoundland riding forum resources was recently hacked and pretty much destroyed. Ride the Rock has been restored after being down for a few weeks but all of the old posts are gone. Hope they are able to get at least some of it back since there was a lot of good information. A good place to ask questions about routes and riding in Newfoundland.

Griff,
That is pretty much the formula that we've used for the NERDS events these past 3 years. Some folks seem to enjoy the big hoopty-doos (big banquets, big door prize lists, etc) more than others. I've always just enjoyed getting to see folks, get together and havin' a good time riding around and partying for the weekend.

My guess is that there may be fewer than normal attendees in Newfie. It is quite a trek just to get up 'dere, eh?. Might be less of us sutherners (from the Yoo Ess that wanna do that, but maybe that is for the best? CFR is for you canuckies first and foremost.
Just mapped this out from RI-fastest way 1378 hours and 30 hours riding.

George- Is this to the Port of Sydney?

I'm a bit over 1200mi (to Port) and that's non slab, incl a stop off (slight detour) to Mt Washington. I would think you are closer than me.
