Yeah ... that fitter guy has way too much time off.... Other than the Newfoundland trip I don't any of them being anymore than a long weekend. All rallys end on saturday night really so getting on the road sunday morning shouldn't be a problem. Marietta , Minneapolis, LaCrosse and Maggie Valley are all only day rides home.

You are hilarious Tom!! All just an SS1K away.
Bob, you're one of those "Worlds Toughest Riders" now...so what's the problem?

Tom IS funny!

1-Day(ers) from my loca?

Maybe if you're slab happy on the Maggie, no way on the LaCrosse or St. Paul-Minny. NERs-NY and SEO are the only shoe-ins for me as a 1 day ride with no slab. Remember I may be sitting on a more comfortable bike but I have an anchor in my group (Steamer) riding his Ninja1400 with many-more stops needed for fuel and ball stretching.

Lets try this:

You let me know what day/time of day you will hit Amherst and I'll map some routes out for you.

Ttwo easy peasy days home from Taos NM.

Don't tell me you can't! When I rode home from Eureka Springs I rode wih a guy that had a VFR.... Talk about fuel stops!

Sunrise Trail from Amherst, NS to Pictou, NS Sunrise up to Cape George and into Antigonish A little slab to Cape Breton and then the Cabot Trail When doing the Cabot Trail - you must do Meat Cove Canadian FJR
Something like this?

I'll offer up an option...... take the Canadian FJR suggestion.....Sunrise, etc to Cape Breton. At Port Hawkesbury, go north on 19 to Port Hood, carry on to Mabou, go SE on 252 which is the best twisty road in Cape Breton, I think, with good pavement, then up 395 (which has quite a few rough spots) to SW Margaree, then on up to Margaree Harbour if you want, turn around come back down 19 to 105. Good day ride, and stay at the Cabot Trail Motel (restaurant on site is good). Staying in Baddeck too expensive. Next day do Cabot Trail counterclockwise, St. Margaret Village as a minimum, Meat Cove is an adventure on the gravel road, come back and go to Cheticamp for lunch. After lunch, go back on Cabot Trail clockwise to the motel........ another good day ride. This gets you seeing more of the SW portion of Cape Breton, and the Cabot Trail both directions.

Weather can be iffy for rain/fog (might be ok in August) so my advice is to plan an extra day or two...... if it's poor weather on the trail, alternate ride is the Bra's D'Or Lakes region from Baddeck, Sydney, Hwy. 4, etc. that will loop you back to the motel. You could do another loop down to Fort Louisburg if you're into the tourist thing (another day). Anyway, the idea is to have an alternative day so you can catch good weather for the Cabot Trail. Total rain day, tour Baddeck and the Alexander Graham Bell museum. Still no luck, and out of time, go to CFR on the prescribed dates, and do the Cabot Trail on the way back. I'm jes sayin' IMHO no sense doing the Cabot Trail in the fog/rain, it's a waste (BTDT). Track the weather for a few days ahead to see if there's a pattern, of course it's more accurate the closer you get to day of arrival. Weather could be different on the trail vs. other areas.

And all this needs a tie-in to meet the ferry schedule out of North Sydney. I'm with Tom, you'll enjoy this if you take more time..... hope everybody can get enough time off. Of course, I'm retired ********, so I can do anything I want......
Too many words. Need more pitchers and maps. Yeah, that's the ticket. Maps and GPS routes. Spoon feeding is what this crowd needs.

PS - Tom, I know you don't get to get out all that much, but Brattleboro is in Vermont, not New Hampshire. And for the record, I have ridden home from there in one day too. ;)

I stand corrected.... but by looking on my map it is pretty darn close to New Hampshire... and by not getting out much .... I'm trying to improve that

Any base city or hotel chosen yet?
Oh for God's sake KJ, the Canucks sobered up enough to give us the dates of August 14-17 and now you are bugging them for the base city/hotel?!?

Let the Frostbacks at least drink their way through Christmas and New Year's before they have to make that decision, eh! Damn Yankee Gringos, eh!

Griff has a block of rooms set at the Holiday Inn in Deer Lake, NL. I will post more info when I feel like it which won't be until the CFR website is updated in the new year. I'm busy thinking about a ski trip right now.

You now have a date, a city and a hotel and that is about all we will be planning this year anyways.

Sheesh...Maybe Bill has spent too much time at the Bust Ranch and has gotten that Midwestern bad attitude I always hear about. Above is the corrected way I would have politely informed KJ I was too busy to deal with his ********.

All the butt-end and low life (leadership) jokes that us Amerks use to be home for, is now on them! Those poor (pour) ole Canuckys are taking a pounding! You can't even watch one of the late night shows anymore without their beloved Mayor being slammed right from the opening lines all the way up to the curtain call. Hey, at least he's only now the Mayor in title only.

:) I guess I would go skiing as well....

Hey Billy... I'd say "break a leg" for good luck but you might take my slang to actuality-reality. B-Careful! You're not nearly as young as da' Steamer!

...jus say'n

https://www.ihg.com/holidayinnexpress/hotels/us/en/deer-lake/ydfex/hoteldetail This CFR 2014Hotel looks very nice, it had outstanding Guest Reviews too. The parking lot is large enough for all of us to get raging blind drunk, there is even a nice flower planter bed for BikerGeek99 to puke in! jes' sayin' and nuff said!
Yeah... It should look wicked nice at $150 a night (before exorbitant added taxes) for the cheapest rooms. Even with that fake lookin' coloured money they use up d'ere, a week there might break even a retired pipe layer fitter's bankroll.

But I guess at least then you'd get to say:

"Deed Oi ain't, mee-all cahk! An' lahng may-yer big jib-jrah.

But oy deed stoy utt a Hooladauy Eenn lost noit."

Hotel should be good, nice folks (at least not the phone). We're getting a break on the room rate. No shortage of watering holes in Deer Lake. We'll be ok.

Now that Westjet is going to be doing direct flights from St John's to Dublin, I'm thinking I might roll out to da rock, do CFR, park the bike in St John's catch a lift to Dublin, see my mate Paul from Celtic Riders (https://www.motorental.ie), do a wee tour of the Emerald Isle, swing back to St John's, and then ride home.

Hmmmmmmmm...........

Whoa Griff, this post of yours definitely caught my Irish Eyes! Celtic Rider is the outfit that Old Michael, ShinyPartsUp and Papa Chuy Viejo have contemplated using for our FJR Forum Ireland Motorcycle Ride someday (I just hope that OM and Mick can do this ride before this Old Paddy kicks the bucket, eh!). Did you do an Eire run with Paul and post up a Ride Report? If so I missed it, please give this Fenian a link!

No, I spoke with Paul last year about doing one, but plans had to change. He's a good friend of the folks we did the Mexico tour with. Class act. Since Ireland is more or less civilized, and they sort of speak English, he just loads up the GPS with the best pubs and inns, let's them know you're coming, and then sends you on your way. Definitely thinking hard about doing a combo tour...

Griff

I don't understand why yous on the other side of the line are getting so hot about CFR..... It is along way down on my list.... I really still can't figure how I had time for work.
