For the Reuben I had people commit in a separate thread for a basic head count and pay at the door on the way in.

Count me in for two people.

FJRay beat me to the perfect answer, that's what we've always done at SW-FOG Events. DO NOT put yourself financially on the hook, BadCat Burk and Papa Chuy Viejo got ourselves burned a number of years ago! jes' sayin' and nuff said, NEVER AGAIN!

Don't check the forum for a few months and **** like this happens...
I can't commit yet. The last time I was out there ('07) was my first road trip on the FJR. It's a great area to ride and I've been wanting to go back.

...but the list of characters already going... has me a little worried.

I'm marking it on the calendar. I can pack a tent.
The only problem with tenting around these folks, you can't lock the door.
Good point.

but that's not the only problem around these people...

I just got a Zumo 550 for this trip and don't have a clue how to use Basecamp or whatever to program these routes.

Is there a way to download them that a dummy like me can figure out? Maybe to an SD card or something?

Any PMs in the King's English would be appreciated (I regret I don't speak IT no matter how hard I try to learn).
Well you start by opening the bonnet and the boot of your caravan...oh, bugger that! (My best King's English that means nothing to most yanks)The file he posted is for Bing maps. Someone Soon will surely convert or redo the waypoints as a gpx file that both Garmins and TomTom can read.
Uh... what's a gpx? One of those muscle cars or rally machines?
Gpx is cheaply made electronic audio equipment...or in this case, a computer file that contains a gps route that can be read by multiple gps manufacturer's navigation devices.
I killed my 550 trying to impregnate it with routes, maps, and who knows what on my Mac. Garmin support said to trash can it-- it was toast and they don't fix them anymore. Fred W stepped up and said let me have a go at fixing it. He did. I don't plan to mess with Basecamp, Basejumping, or Freebasing with it now that I can actually get from point A to point B anywhere in the US. Thank God I can still read maps if all else fails. And thanks to Fred W.

Don -- Lodging for me & Jill, Presidential Suite at Bell's...

--G
My Miss Tyler: Appropriate Hubba's have dutifully been added! Always a pleasure Tyler, and I really mean a PLEASURE!

Gorgeous George: Thanks you for sounding off and letting me know your lodgings, this really helps me out with this chore!

Deleted Participants: Papa Chuy Viejo removed TopSpeed_1 and Stanlee Steamer, I understand that they are attending the Gay Mens Rodeo in Billings, Montana instead!

NOTE: I went ahead and put everyone down for Bell's Motor Lodge - BML as a DEFAULT, unless I knew differently like bigjohnsd and Festar staying at a personal home.

PLEASE: If you would sound off like escapefjrtist did with a selected lodging, it would speed up listings between BML or Kozy Motel or camping or the third lodgings! THX!

PS: I went ahead and added zzzzip - Skip to the list because I know he has a "man crush" on 'Zilla, they're staying at the Kozy Motel down the street!

PSS: Per post #192 I have added PhilJet09 and post #197 twistedcricket, I have added them to the Interested List; twistedcricket will be tent camping.

I may have forgotten to mention that I plan to attend this gathering.

Sorry. No way I can forget to sign up for steak and beer.

Two please

Don another Add?

Here is my Christmas present to the forum. I took John's map of the first route he posted and transferred it over into Basecamp.....

Mount%20Rushmore%20Loop-L.png

The loop is broken into two parts strangely enough labelled Mount Rushmore Loop Pt 1 and Pt 2. It is slightly different from what John had originally posted since his map had us missing Iron Horse Road which I gathered from a following post he had intended us to ride. I also made a slight change to take the route up the Needles Highway which did not show on John's map.

I saved the GPS route in three different formats (GPX, GDB & KML) and stuck them in my Dropbox for your downloading pleasure. If you are North Korean please don't hack this.

The download is available from my Spearfish Rally folder. Let me know if you are able to download the files. If you can't I don't want to hear about it since you obviously did something wrong.
