I guess we'll wing it according to time & how we feel. Beer 30 might take precedence over all else.

Works for me! I also want to enjoy the festivities, there... so, maybe that is the way to go.

Is it Friday yet?

Rode in to work this morning...thought I was taking another shower (HUMID)...looking forward to some mountains. :D

One more day of work. Just one more thing to transfer to the 15. Spanky's floor boards. Changing Heidi's tires tomorrow night. Going to be a great weekend.

Those floor boards are the kittie's ******* aren't they? & the price was right! Tires... I'm thinking probably pool b4 anything else.... or do we want to just get it the hell over with? Then eat, drink, dive & be happy?

I think that we'll be in before 5. Not looking forward to riding in mass heat.

Now I see why Heidi's going to Bob's...the tires really don't matter...it's the pool...and a bit of beer!

Tires first. I will be all sweaty and then I will pool.

Had a great weekend!

Best friends, great roads, good food ( mostly ), free live music.

What more could you ask for?

Count me in for next year.

A good time had by mua! I'd like to see that all made it home ok. Nice seeing Alex & you. Glad that you're home safe.

One story from the road...

On Saturday, we had a damn good time running the mountains, but by the time the late afternoon rolled around, everyone was worn out and ready to head for the barn...except for two. Bob (and Janet) and I headed for the Highland Scenic Highway, a route we were going to do on Friday, but retreated from in the face of a pretty gnarly looking storm (we'd already gotten soaked earlier in the day). As it was late in the afternoon, we had the road to ourselves, which, as you could imagine, made things, cough cough, brisk. At the top, we stopped at one of the scenic overlooks and Bob headed for the pit toilet while Janet and I took in the view. In the distance, we heard the unmistakable noise of Harley's coming up the road from the other direction. Eventually, about 10-15 Harley's rolled into the overlook, each rider looking the part. The very last bike's rider looked to be around 50 years old or so, with the requisite long gray beard and grizzled look; HOWEVER, he had RAP music blaring...something about "Dig that nasty"...or something to that effect. Janet and I looked at each other with WTF looks on our faces and we bust up...Bob emerged from the pit toilet, saw us, saw them, and busted up too. I'm sure Bob could add something. It was just altogether very strange and certainly not something you see every day...like bizarro world or something, lol.

Once they got themselves all parked, they crowded around the last guy's bike, cracked open his side bag, and broke out the beer.

They all seemed nice enough...they asked me to take their pic and I obliged.

I'll post up some pics in a bit (gotta upload them to SmugMug)...they're all pretty much the same as what I put on FB.

Some photos from the trip...I kinda sucked with photos this time, but oh well.

On Saturday, the New River Gorge Bridge was in our way...

So we went under it... (I made everyone stop in a very wet uphill patch of the bad pavement...it was fun, lol).

View down the gorge.

A stop at Pees and Pents (according to Bob's GPS)...it's actually Pies and Pints. Great pizza! Bob's trying to take a selfie at the same time as I am. Gotta be honest, I think mine turned out better.

Janet and the Highland Scenic Highway in better weather. This may be right after the bizarro incident I mentioned earlier...

Pioneer Days, Saturday Night. Rock band on the left and the festivities further down the road. The rock band was across the street from OCI this year...they were ok I suppose.

Sunday morning in Marlinton; Pioneer Days festivities are pretty much over.

Crews cleaning up and packing up down where everything was the night before.

Packing up to leave on Sunday...0821 to be exact. Heidi flashing me a gang sign... (the night before, Bob, Janet, and myself were approached by an elderly lady who thought we were in a biker gang...thanks to the EOM shirts we had on I guess, lol).

We left Marlinton and headed north for a late breakfast at Haps Highs Restaurant in Monterey, VA.

IMG_3691-L.jpg

A stop at the Dairy Queen in Gum Spring, VA for some ice cream...it was getting hot. After that, Bob and Janet headed for home while Heidi (pillion Kim) and I headed for Richmond, where we'd eventually split off to our homes. It was an AWESOME weekend of riding. Many a corner was railed and many a beer was drunk after hours...good times.
