I'll tell ya all about it when I get mine...

I'm a huge fan of the 6 speed transmission. In the beginning I would always search for that 6th gear while gobbling up mile after mile on the super-slabs with my 2008. Always felt that traveling @ inter-state speeds should be a more calming experience with that big motor (nothing wrong with getting a few more MPGs either).
All of the above still remains to be seen. We do not even know how much higher the 6th gear overdrive is as compare to the old 5 speed overdrive. We'll need to wait until the full specs are released.
+1...my 6 speed Honda/VFR turned higher rpm than my 5 speed FJRs
But that doesn't matter...6 gears is better than 5, just like 11 is louder than 10 (Spinal Tap reference). The FJR did not need a 6th gear. It gets 42+ mpg on average and only retired a flick of the wrist to pass quickly on the interstate in top gear. Until a 2016 it's treated, no one knows how the new tranny will feel and perform. It's all just speculation.

Just seems like there are a lot of 2016 haters out there AJ...can't wait to see it, at the Motorcycle show in January.
I don't want to see it, I want to ride it

and draw the only conclusion that really matters to me from the only person qualified to know what I really like. Unless I can find a great deal on a '14 ES first. I've ridden the '14 ES and it has the official IONBEAM Seal Of Approval.

You could always go another 10+ years with a(nother) gray bike (2015). It's the same exact bike as the "approved" 2014, just without a color.

I've already gone 10+ years without color. I'm ready to join all the other cool kids with color.

Well, I'm with ETJOE. Us ETs gotta stick together.

My order is in ... and I won't have a serious opinion on the bike until 3 months after I've picked it up.

But ... I already know that I am a big fan of the FJR. It's a known quantity. The relatively small changes from Gen I, to Gen II, to Gen III, and now to Gen IV

, make very little difference in the overal wonders of the bike.

You know, I've been running around with a Rocket III Touring as my only larger bike since 2012.

The FJR feels like a sport bike again. And the '08, on which I mounted Pilot Powers, and which appears to have lowering links, is a genuine hoot.

The 2016 may have a hard time keeping up in the twisties. This '08 is really sticky.

That did make me smack me lips a bit......stop teasing me.

oh, it's a gen13 ya douche canoes.

An homage to Spinal Tap ... but since you've posted this volume control pic, I've been playing guitars.

The Rivera amps all have wimpy dials that only go up to 10.

On the Jack Pearson Signature Series V V T amp, every dial can go all the way to 12!

I need to figure out how to post pictures.

And I can live with Gen 13. After all, 1 + 3 = 4.

I've done taken in 21 pages of this thread and not one of you Dingle Berries has even mentioned the important stuff about the new 2016.

What brand of tire comes on it.

Now that is what I'm talking about.

Carry on

That's the same Yamaha press release that has been printed in every bike magazine. None of them have actually seen the thing in the flesh.

The kind of tire that you may use for a couple thousand miles on it, then replace with a set of real tires. What's $200-300 with a price tag of $xx,xxx?
