I hear that hillbilly hotdog is the feast of kings.
We made a Hillbilly Hotdogs run at a Ramble a coupla years ago. Mixed in the Sisterville Ferry across the Ohio River as well. Do yourself a favor and plot a route between Sisterville and Hillbilly Hotdogs. I didn't but should have.

So your saying something to the point of....

Ride through the National Forest from Marietta to Sistersville.

Cross on the ferry.

Make my way southwest to a feast for kings on the other side of the river.

Then work my way back to Microtel-land and try to do so without landing on a divided roadway?

Ill see what I can do.

Playing with google maps just for reference. Its looking like a 400+\- round trip.

This is looking better all the time.

Take 26 out of Marietta, at the end of 26, hang a right onto 800. Follow 800 to Fly, and I believe you take a left and go just a little northward to the Ferry. That'll put you on WV2. Then either run 2 all the way or I think 16 crosses a few other points southward that you can eventually lead you to Hillbilly.

It'll be great to see you all again. Leaving early Thursday, 650 miles, arriving Thursday night. Hopefully before dark.
I may try to get there Thursday night. If so, we can tear up some of the flat, straight and boring roads on Friday.

The orthopedists confirmed on Thursday that it is a partially torn gastrocnemius tendon (muscle). In her words, 10-14 days for the pain to subside, 4-6 weeks for full recovery.

If Wed. night was 0 and perfect is a 10, I'd say I'm about 3 right now. I think I could mount the bike, and I may be able to balance the bike at a level and dry stop. But there is NO way I could put the bike on the side stand (it's the left calf).

The bottom line is that if I'm going to leave Tuesday, the healing is going to have to get miraculous - and quick. I'm doing everything the doctor instructed. There's no point in making any declarations now, but I fear the fat lady is starting to warm up.

I'm pretty upset about it. I was so looking forward to this. I'm being selfish - it's not like this is my one and only chance at a world wide bucket list ride that I've planned and saved for 2 years. I'm just admittedly obsessed with this (touring). Right now, this is pretty much what gets me going. I think about it every day, some days constantly. I've been pretty fortunate in the bike trip department. There will be other rides.

I still hope it will work out.

Looks like I'm in fo'sho. Got approved for my time off. Planning on leaving Thurs after work, spend the night around Toronto then rest of the way on Fri. See you all Friday evening. I'll have a room share available Fri/Sat/Sun.

Damn! Now you sound like me!

Give it time and don't do anything to re-aggravate it. If you have to knock a couple days off the front end and at least come up for the leaving Ohio/WV camping part.

I did the same thing to my right calf in martial arts. I just wrapped it and kept working out. That was about 10 years ago now. Haven't had any trouble with it since.

I sure hope it works out after all I put on the line for this trip!!

The truth is - I'm kind of glad that it's the left one. If the rear brake was on the left side, I'd never be able to press it - at least right now. I guess I could also say I'm glad I don't ride a classic English bike.

MikeP1300 is leaving Friday - he was supposed to meet us at Watoga for Sunday. That is another option I'm thinking about. If I can't ride on Tuesday, maybe Friday will be better.

I am toying with the idea of riding out Thursday. If I do that I need a room as my room share doesn't start until Friday.

Anyone have a room they want to split for Thursday night? I won't be arriving until about 10 P.M.

Do you have any farm/horse stores around you? TSC? Rural King? Maybe ask a veterinarian? Lol

Look for "Absorbine Veterinary Liniment Gel- Topical Analgesic"

Works wonders!!! And not just for horses. But if it can help a 1200lb animal.... Hopefully it can help you.

I have a free bed for Thursday night if u need one. Cav has the other 2 days. Pm me if your interested.
PM sent. Guess Josh will have to sleep on the wet spot!:

I just threw up!!

Wait, I thought the hotel had a no livestock policy! Who is bringing the sheep??? I know you are not actually going to attempt fornication with a live actual woman!!

I will make sure the room is cleaned CSI style now!!

I am glad my wife does not read this forum!! She would ground me!!
