Tyler really luv your pic's and story makes me want ride and never come back, but the gf wouldn't like that.

Dave K. (aka Bruce K.)

Jeeze, Tyler -- you're a blonde now! And it looks great on you! You've always had enough IQ points to be able to take the hit that color change probably meant. More importantly -- blonde or brunette, your phenomenal photography and RRs always shine. I really enjoyed visiting this thread the last few days as you posted more.

ps -- nice new trike, too.

Ah crap... I got your name wrong... I am so sorry BruceDaveK!!! I should've remembered that Dave seems to be the most popular PNW name up that way... :)

*goes to correct posts*

Thanks, Rich... remind me to give you a big hug the next time I see ya...

The blonde thing is a step toward letting my hair go "au naturel"... been coloring it for 30 years so gonna give it a go and see what's underneath the hood... we shall see what develops... ;)

And there's more to come... B)

Wow.

Just beautiful scenery (and photog. skills to show it!), great RR, and clever provocation for some of us to "seize the day".

Sybil looks like a lot of fun, too.

I've already ate all of my popcorn. This R/R is truly a "2-batcher"!

One day I will ride my motorcycle to the Pacific northwest. When that happens, I will bring my camera. But the best pictures will be the ones embedded in my brain. In the meantime, I will live vicariously through you, Tyler (as creepy as that sounds).

Well done, Madam. I can hardly wait for the rest...

Living vicariously for the time being is just fine with me... make sure to include CA with that PNW tour... the best of the best!! Why not come out for FJRay's Reuben Run in September? You can meet about 60-70 of your closest forum friends that you never knew you had! :D

Okay... let's see... where were we... oh yeah! We bade our Auburn friends goodbye after a hearty breakfast with enough food to feed all of us four times over! Friday's adventures would be led tag team style by Dave and Kevin. Someone asked me what roads we did that day... honestly, I have no fricking clue but it looked somethink like this:
squiggly-line.jpg

They led us along some wonderful local backroads... we zigged, we zagged, we jigged, we jogged, and man did we have a good time!!

Snoqualmie Falls...
DSC_8228-XL.jpg

A stop at Jordan Bridge, a cool suspension bridge over the south fork of the Stillaguamish River...

The river below and a few folks soakin gup the sun...
DSC_8233-XL.jpg

Then along backroads through farming country...

And a stop in the small town of La Conner for lunch by the river... another beautiful day!
DSC_8250-XL.jpg

Whoooooo are you lookin' at??
DSC_8251-XL.jpg

Some nice watercraft...
DSC_8258-XL.jpg

I'll take one, please...
DSC_8261-XL.jpg

I love all the flowers adorning these towns...
DSC_8270-XL.jpg

Then some we traversed some roads like these...
IMG_1767-XL.jpg

IMG_1774-XL.jpg

IMG_1811-XL.jpg

And made some stops like here...
DSC_8278-XL.jpg

With some views like this...

DSC_8280-XL.jpg

We were like the energizer bunny riders... we kept going, and going, and going... it was all a wonderful blur... we wore poor Scott out...
IMG_1788-XL.jpg

Until finally arriving at our scheduled motel for the night outstide of the bustling (not) town of Rockport...
DSC_8317-XL.jpg

Now it was pretty late and we were tired and looking forward to kicking back and relaxing for the evening... so I went into the front office to check in and was amazed at the amount of "stuff" in this small little cubicle that I think used to be entryway for the small front building... there were post it notes and scraps of paper and a large paper calendar/schedule... no computer... just bits of paper everywhere... a sign of things to come... literally and figuratively!

I told the front desk gal who I was and she said, "Oh, you have one room." I said no, I had two rooms. She insisted I only had one. I insisted I had reserved two rooms for the five of us. She said oh no, there's only one room. I asked if there was another motel nearby we could call and get two rooms. Oh no, she said, there's a music festival nearby and everything's booked. She said someone could sleep on the floor. Um, no, no one should have to sleep on the floor because I BOOKED TWO ROOMS!! Then she asked if we had brought a tent... really??? I started to get a little peeved (understatement).

Grumbling under my breath (understatement), I went out to the bike to get my notes and look at the one room we did have. While I stomped around, Scott and Sue continued to communicate with the gal and she finally figured out that we did indeed have two rooms but her "system" was so scattered she couldn't find the connection between my name and the two rooms... to her credit she did give us a discounted price (which was cheap already) and the motel itself was very clean and comfortable so... I didn't have to kill anyone. :D

One other minor detail, the website said there was a restaurant across the street from them. And there was... but it closed in 1997 and they never updated their website!! lol So we ended up ordering pizza from Annie's Pizza and they delivered it! BEST. PIZZA. EVER!! Seriously, it was really good pizza... so good in fact we ended up having it for breakfast the next morning too!

All in all, it was a nice place to stay once we got over the initial hurdle so we settled in with our pizza and enjoyed the nice evening and the grounds...

DSC_8322-XL.jpg

This little guy was enjoying the evening as well...
DSC_8307-XL.jpg

And of course the signs that were everywhere telling us how to do (or not do) everything... it was pretty funny after awhile...

We had a good night's sleep and woke up refreshed and revigorated for another day's adventures...

Next up... the Cascades!! B)

Wow, what an adventure!, Was that the Cannery Hotel in Astoria? Nice place and dog friendly, and they have computers for reservations!

FWFE

Aaaaaannnnddd... we're back! The morning was full of promise...
IMG_1816-XL.jpg

Off we went headed through the Cascades. Before we ascended that pass, we stopped off at the Gorge Power Plant that Dave/Niehart had recommended along the Skagit River and said was really lovely... and he was right! The area was covered in beautiful landscaped floral beds, had a cool suspension bridge, and waterfalls a short walk away... it was cool, peaceful, and relaxing... a good way to start the day!

IMG_1847-XL.jpg

Hwy 20 is a beautiful road with some absolutely stunning vistas... iirc, this is Diablo Lake... and yes, the water really is that color...
DSC_8386-XL.jpg

DSC_8387-XL.jpg

No if's, and's or butt's about it...
DSC_8383-XL.jpg

Scooting along, I spied a waterfall right on the side of the road and u-turned to go back and see if I could get a shot of it (and confusing poor Dave who was sweeping again and couldn't figure out why I was going the opposite direction! lol)... the sun glittered on the water and created a rainbow at the bottom of the fall... you can barely see it bu the colors of the wet rocks were gorgeous...
DSC_8395-XL.jpg

We stopped for a photo opp at Rainy Pass which, as of about a week ago was closed due to mudslides across the road... timing is everything!

As of three days ago...

Mountain men...
DSC_8415-XL.jpg

And thus we began our descent from the cool mountain air... down, down, down we went... Scott and Dave showed their approval of the day's adventure...
IMG_1865-XL.jpg

And up, up, up went the temperature... definite change in landscapes too!
IMG_1852-XL.jpg

IMG_1855-XL.jpg

We stopped in Twisp for lunch and to cool off, re-gear for the warmer weather, etc...
DSC_8423-XL.jpg

Dave took things to the extreme...
DSC_8425-XL.jpg

Rehydrated and suitably suited up in our cooling vests (well worth every penny spent!!), we continued on toward Coulee Dam and our hotel in Electric City... when we stopped for gas in a small town (Omak?), Kevin asked us if we wanted to take the direct route (about 30 minutes) or if we'd like him to lead us on an extended back roads route (90 minutes)... do we even need to answer that???
IMG_1859-XL.jpg

View of Omak Lake (I think?)...

DSC_8440-XL.jpg

I was surprised at how homey and cute and green the town was as we drove through...
IMG_1876-XL.jpg

And then we arrived at our home away from home for the evening, Sky Deck Motel, which sits right next to Banks Lake with a great deck out back where we kicked back and enjoyed a nice cold beer after the ride... ahhhhhhhh...
DSC_8446-XL.jpg

DSC_8444-XL.jpg

We also met up with TWF forum friends, Karen and Bobby, who had ridden out to meet us and have dinner as well as my college buddy, Cindy and her husband Dom... one of the things I really enjoy about riding is seeing friends along the way and sharing some good times... :)

DSC_8459-XL.jpg

We meandered back to the hotel and enjoyed the mellow evening as did others in the area before settling in for the night...

What's next you ask?? Idaho and Oregon and the depths of hell... Hells Canyon that is!

it looked somethink like this:

That is the most perfect motorcycle route map in the history of motorcycle maps!
I think she got a shot of my brain!

The actual route was more like this.
