Well I'll Be.... I just noticed this rider from Ohio is wearing IOWA HAWKEYE black and gold! :yahoo:

Hey Paul,

There are a couple of Baltimore riders on the forum. Try a PM

to them directly. I think Hello Kitty/Randy IIRC. Can't seem to

find the photo I was looking for.....

The morning after the 100CCC.........
I should clarify this photo;

The rider on the right is Paul's father. He's on a Wing on this ride.

Kittery in the am, now on 101. I think their timing is very good.

While most were sleeping- they got the worst part of the ride knocked out.

A little more than 12 hours in and they should be feeling some relief.

I think Kittery was one of my gas stops where the 48+ ride started sinking

in. It becomes more enjoyable now!

Actually, we only made 13 states. In a moment of weakness during a thunderstorm at the 24hr mark somewhere in Maryland off 301, we noticed a beautiful Hampton Inn flanked by a Cracker Barrel and a Carrabas.

So, we threw in the towel on our 1300 some odd mile day. We would like to have gotten into VA and back to I95, but hot food won the day...

Tomorrow we're off to Looozyana.

I saw you were at 301 and Smallwood last night. I thought you were more than likely stopping for dinner since that intersection is full of food. I started to gear up and run 45 mins to the VA side of the river and ride with ya'll to 95. It wasn't long til I remembered there are also hotels right there. Enjoy your ride guys. We're praying for you in F'burg.

Too bad - looks like you wont be stopping in NC. You must have just passed by my area in RTP/Durham, NC. Good luck getting through Charlotte and SC and everything from there on.

They are actually hitting a nice plan. Coming in for Century, FL in the PM.

I think LA was their overnight (?) Then early start and by the time it heats

up, they will be approaching the Midwest.

I am not sure what just happened??? They were headed South to Century,Fl for a Fl receipt...

Now they Jogged back North to the interstate without completing the route.Anyone in contact ?

Could they have possibly hit Century, got the receipt and headed back before SPOT

fired off another ping? I think not...

Well I'll be.... They found themselves a rest stop right over the FL line-

Zooming in looks like businesses up the road. Is Century losing its tradition?

Paul just called me that they are in LaPlace, LA for the nite

that's where I-10 heading west meets I-55 heading north (point #22)

They'll let me know when they plan to pull out in the morning so I can meet up and ride with them to Jackson, MS (#23)

will update

Thanks for the update Mike...

See you in October... Right(?)

Did I read that Rider's list correctly? ;)

Well, we started down that way to bag FL only to be met by a forest or brush fire. We were turned around only a mile or 2 before the line. Backtrack, reroute, etc. It must've been a large fire, we smelled smoke for miles from I-65.

We went the rest of the way to LA but still need to officially bag LA & MS tomorrow on the way to MI.

Thanks for the prayers and the advice on 301. Other than 1 or 2 slow stretches it was extremely smooth sailing. Moreover, it was hands down our favorite road for day 1. The run from where we stopped on day 1 down into VA on day 2 was very nice too. Very enjoyable and we made good time.

Thanks again and sorry we missed you.

Paul,

Those fires are common down here. Next time just hose down the bikes and your gear and increase

your speed (Double)... and slip right through the flames without a reroute!

You are looking good so far. Today will be a boring stretch for you. I-57 with its 65 mph limit

has some "Zealous" LEOs. Day 4 will be much sweeter for you. Grind and enjoy!

UPDATE...Paul's SPOT not working and says it won't reboot. They are OK and his better half just told me they are in Arkansas.

We all figured out they were in Slidell, LA at exit 80 I-12 for the night. This is 3 miles west of I-10 where 10,12,59 come together just north of Slidell.

I met up with them and immediately knew I'd enjoy Paul and Dad Mike's company. We headed out at 0630 taking I-12 west for aways, then getting on I-55 north and were in south Jackson around 0930 parting company at 1015 with full breakfast stomachs. That leg was about 170mi.

I meandered back home for a day total of 390mi. Was scorching on the slab and awarded myself with a full cold shower upon returning home.

This time of year in LA or MS means it's probably not fun to ride between noon and four most day. Some rain is a bonus to me when I ride June-Aug.

Good luck to both of you, Paul.

We met last August in SE Ohio...my son was with me on an XJ600.

Hope you have a great ride.

My butt doesn't hurt looking at this ride...I just feel the body fatigue just looking at it. Hope you guys feel some extra energy all though this trip! :clapping:

Thanks! Of course I remember the SE Ohio ride. That was a lot of fun and I hope to do it again. So far no fatigue or other issues, just having fun.
